As of shortly after Midnight on Wednesday morning, November 12th, Southern Gospel enLighten joins the Sirius satellite radio lineup, and can be heard on Sirius Channel 67 in addition to XM Channel 34.

Marlin Taylor, enLighten’s Chief Shepherd, states that no significant changes in the channel’s programming are being planned, with Daniel Britt & Friends and Paul Heil’s Gospel Greats program continuing to be heard at their same times.

This move now makes Southern Gospel music available to all of the more than 17 million active satellite radio receivers, plus the many millions of homes equipped to receive satellite television from both DirecTV and Dish TV.

This Saturday, the channel celebrates its 4th anniversary, having been launched as an Internet station only when XM Radio began its XM Radio OnLine music service on November 15th, 2004. In November 2005 it was included when XM music channels were added to DirecTV service and joined the XM satellite lineup in April of 2006.

Rebeccabme1's avatar I was excited when I read this today until I went to my new cell phone that has Sirius Radio, but neither of these channel's. Maybe someone at Sprint will see this and add them before I disconnect my radio service. Without Gospel music I don't need it.

Jesus is Lord. ... be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted and forgiving.  grin

Amen. Me too. I have XM and I was hoping that Sirius would see the wisdom of adding a southern gospel station to its lineup. The simulcast is working well, and it's great that all satellite radio users can listen to SGM 24/7. The other good news is that they added the audio stream to the Dish Network music channels.

Awesome. This is very good news for our Southern Gospel artists. At a time when there are fewer and fewer SGM radio stations, it is marvelous that satellite radio sees this niche market as important.
