
The Speers (Ben Speer, Rosa Nell and Mary Tom) were honored June 21 at the 3rd annual Garland-Wideman Memorial Scholarship Gospel Concert. Lawrenceburg TN's Mayor Keith Durham and County Executive Paul Rosson as they were presented with Afghans, traditional coon skin caps, and pewter plates of Lawrenceburg. A special brick was placed on Crockett Theater walk in honor of the Speers. Governor Phil Bredesen also signed a proclamation that June 21 was designated as Speer Family Day in the State of Tennessee. The Speer Family, who were residents at one time in Lawrenceburg, shared many memories during their time there.
