Louisville, KY - The National Quartet Convention has announced that the Thursday afternoon Artist Spotlight Showcase, scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 14, will feature two of Southern Gospel Music’s most popular solo artists, as well as a special tribute to legendary pianist Anthony Burger. The Showcase originally was scheduled to feature Janet Paschal, Ivan Parker and Anthony Burger; however, as a result of Burger’s untimely death in February, the NQC Board of Directors made the decision to proceed with the Showcase and include a special tribute to the talented musician. The Showcase will feature Paschal and Parker, long-time friends of Burger, and the Burger Tribute, which will include multiple performance clips and excerpts from the Burger Memorial Service.
Additionally, Steinway Pianos, which endorsed Burger, will be displaying a Steinway concert grand piano in the Exhibit Hall Lobby of the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center. The Steinway will be displayed in Burger’s memory, and several artifacts from Burger’s home will also be displayed on the piano.
The Artist Spotlight Showcase featuring Janet Paschal, Ivan Parker and the Burger Tribute will take place at the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center in Louisville, KY, during the National Quartet Convention, which will be held throughout the week of September 11, 2006. To obtain complete information regarding the National Quartet Convention and to purchase tickets for the Artist Spotlight Showcase, call 1-800-846-8499 or visit http://www.natqc.com.

I think this is a GREAT idea!!
I think it will be wonderful to see some of the younger panio players like Brian Elliot of The Anchormen play an Anthony Burger arrangement....
I would also like to see somethings from The Trio... Kirk, Ivan and Anthony or as Anthony said... Burger and Fries!!
I listened to an old Kingsmen album the other day and got a chuckle form Jim Hammil talk about Anthony... One was a Quater Horse and the other is he wouldn't tell us that Anthony used to be a model for The Cabbage Patch Dolls!!
I think it will be great to see some of the ones that sang while Anthony played to be a part of the tribute... Jim... Garry... Earnie... Ray Dean and so on!!
Anthony is really missed!! -
This is so fitting, as Anthony was becoming such a phenomonal part of Gospel Music. I've been listening to him play on some of the Gaither tapes, and I never realized what an anointing was on his talent and ministry. His passing has impacted me in so many ways; partly because he's near my age, and partly because it was so unexpected. While we're all rejoicing that Anthony is in the presence of the Lord, the question still resounds, 'why?'. But as Corrie Ten Boom said, "I know that everything, even my questions is in my wise Heavenly Father's hands."
We miss you, Anthony.
Let's not forget the Doug Riley family, too.

Anthony and Doug were they best. Thank God for letting us have them for a while.
