MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Amy Marie Unthank and Chris D. Unthank, owners of Southern Spin Radio, were recently honored with the Paul Heil Award in the 2006 Diamond Awards.

The Paul Heil Award is awarded for excellence in radio broadcasting. Southern Spin Radio went online almost two years ago by the owners of Southern Spin Entertainment. The online radio station is designed around the mainstream Top 40 format – which plays mostly currents at a higher rate. The station also focuses on what is hot and cutting edge in Southern Gospel radio.

“To say that we were surprised is putting it mildly,” mentioned Chris Unthank, program director for the internet station. “I was in complete shock when Paul Heil read our name as the winner – especially since we are such a young station. We are humbled by this award, and it really is a way to make sure we continue to do the best we possibly can with this station.”

Southern Spin Radio plays a mix of Southern Gospel but mainly plays the more progressive and country styles so prevalent among young groups today. The station includes a programming committee – which also decides additions to the play list. Current members of the Advisory Committee include critics, industry veterans, artists, and fans.

Amy Marie Unthank and Chris D. Unthank were also presenters of the Favorite Industry Website award during the Diamond Awards ceremony.
