HisSong’s Dennis Humphries Recovering from Surgery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dennis Humphries, member of HisSong, is currently recovering from a surgery that took place earlier today, July 21, 2005.

According to group member Adam Elrod, Humphries was having surgery to remove a large sized mass in the side of his neck and shoulder. The surgery was fairly complicated, but Dennis is reported to be doing well.

“We ask that you continue to pray for Dennis as he recovers in the next couple of days,” said Adam Elrod. “Dennis is a real trooper. He plans on being at all engagements this weekend, as well as HisSong’s appearance at the 6th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival on Thursday, July 28, 2005.”

I want to personally thank ALL of you who have prayed for me over the past couple week's.

I received word from the Dr over a week ago that the mass between my neck and shoulder did not look good and I needed to have surgery immediately. I tried to put the surgery off another couple weeks but the Dr said NO, I needed to have it right then.

God has worked many miracles in my life before and I knew this was no different but I must say, I was very scared. I was having major headaches to the point of almost passing out and times I would have to lie down.

The Dr stressed to me how dangerous this could be and said it was a BIG possibility he could cut a nerve or a blood vein and it could paralize me or it could even be worse.

I found this out about 4 to 5 days before my surgery. I would go to our office at my home in Nashville and pray for long hours at night.

I found out later that radio stations had found out about it and was requesting prayer for me and Churches across the country were having special prayer for me and it seemed like such a burden was lifted from me because I knew that many people all over the country was praying for my healing.

I went in last Thursday to Summit Medical Center in Nashville to get ready for the surgery as my Mom & Dad, my two best friend's who sings with me Gary & Adam and others was with me. The guys were trying to cheer me up before the surgery as they could see how scared I was.

After my surgery the Dr came back and told my Mom, Dad and friends that they got the mass and it was NOT cancer. Gary said the Dr had a big smile on his face as he was also relieved as he thought it would be alot worse.

I dont know what I would do without ALL of you and your prayers. I don't know what I would do without Christian people that cares and prays for our needs when we're sick or we're going through a tough time. It means so much to get an email from someone who I have never met in person but have heard our song on the radio say they are praying for me.

Let us continue to pray for one another when we have needs because prayer works.

I want to thank ALL the staff at Solid Gospel as I have received emails from people saying they have heard them requesting prayer for me on the air and that means more to me than words could ever describe. Thanks so SoGospelNews for the article asking everyone to pray, to all the Churches and radio stations that have requested prayer over the air, it worked.

One more thing, I never had to cancel one date following my surgery. Even though I was very sore and could not lift my left arm, God helped me through it.

If I can ever help any of you pray for a need you may have please let me know, it's the least I can do.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Smyrna, Tennessee tonight at the River of Life Church.
