Jonathan White Performs at SGN Music Awards Celebration

CANTON, Ohio – Jonathan White, one of Southern Gospel music’s fastest rising soloists, recently participated in the 2005 SGN Music Awards Celebration on Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Jonathan was one of the featured performers for the evening. He performed “Conversation Peace”, a song penned by Aaron Wilburn.

In addition to performing, Jonathan was nominated in the category of Male Vocalist of the Year. White was awarded his nomination based on his work with popular trio Mencer, White & Cheney and his critically acclaimed solo album, Live at Chapel Hill.

“It was such an honor to even be in the same category with the likes of Mike Bowling, Loren Harris, Eddie Harrison, Michael Lord, and Matt McFarland,” remarked Jonathan White. “The fact that they allowed a little guy like me to perform is a very humbling experience. Thank you SouthernGospelNews.com and staff for giving me this very high honor.”

“Jonathan had a great year, not just as a soloist, but for his work with the group,” said Deon Unthank, owner of SouthernGospelNews.com. “If you listen to him sing, there is no doubt in your mind that he was one of the best male singers last year. We were glad to nominate him and have him perform. We wish him the best in the future.”

The awards were presented at a special awards ceremony at Belle Aire Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on April 26, 2005.

Jonathan was blessed with a #1 song earlier this year as “The Passion of the Christ” spent 3 weeks in the top spot on the SouthernGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart. He was also voted Fan Favorite for a record 13 weeks on the chart, as well as ranking in the Top 5 for multiple weeks before and after.

Jonathan recently sent out the follow up to “The Passion of the Christ”. “Don’t Drink the Water” was sent out to Southern Gospel Radio with DJ Man Promotions earlier this month.

More information on Jonathan White can be found at his newly designed website: http://www.jonathanwhite.com .

I second Deon's comments. Jonathan deserves to be in that group little or big, it doesn't matter. Everyone needs to hear this guy sing. He has an awesome voice and uses it for God's glory.

I really had a great time at the SGN Awards show. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, fans and artists alike. It was a great honor to perform as well. Thanks so much to SoGospel for their dedication and love for Christian music. I can't wait until the July Convention!!
