Continuing what has been a stellar year for the Dunaways, readers of the Singing News have voted the group in the top 10 for Horizon Group. In addition, Kanah Dunaway, the dynamic 19-year-old lead singer of the group has received a top-10 nomination for Horizon Individual.
The past year has seen the group release its first project on the Family Music Group label, chart its first Top 40 song with “Beautiful Day,” and garner more than half a dozen other nominations from industry print and online media, including SoGospelNews.com and thesoutherngospel.com.
FMG label president Les Butler, who is also the Dunaways’ producer, said, “This is a group I have believed in since I first heard them sing. It is gratifying to see their acceptance by Southern Gospel fans and radio, and I believe this recognition from the industry’s top magazine will enable them to reach even more people with the life-changing Gospel message they sing.
“Kanah’s top 10 nomination is a sign of the fans’ appreciation for young people who display extraordinary talent,” Butler continued. “She reaches out to people through her music in a way that reflects the way Jesus reaches out to people – and they respond.”
The Singing News Fan Awards will be presented on Thursday evening at this year’s National Quartet Convention scheduled for Sept. 13-18 in Louisville, Ky. For tickets or information on NQC, visit http://www.natqc.com
The group’s new single, “I Still Trust You,” written by James L. McFall, is quickly being added to play lists all over the country.
