I was wondering if anyone could give me some history and latest information on Landy Gardner. We attended a Christ Church Choir event. He was very impressing.

All I know is he is married to Joy Gardner who sings on many of the Gaither videos.
A few years back when Gaither was having his Praise Gathering in Indianapolis, IN, Landy would almost always bring the Christ Church Choir and they would rock the house!  Best song of theirs that I remember is “There’s a Healer In The House”.  Good stuff!

Wrong!!!!! Joy Dyson Gardner was previously married to Dony McGuire.  To the best of my knowledge, Ms. Reba was never previously married before her marriage to Dony.  Again, your proint is??????????  Live and let live and don’t post if you don’t have the correct information.  Landy and Joy have made an awesome couple at Christ Church and anywhere else you see them!!

My goodness!  I did not know that answering a question (does anybody know anything about Landy Gardner?) would be so controversial.  But I am corrrect.  The Rambo’s were friends of our family for many years - I traveled one weekend with them right after Reba left and before they hired Patty Carpenter.  Reba was, in fact, married to Landy Gardner prior to being married to Dony McGuire.  You can see a photograph of them in Dottie’s cookbook.  My point being??? To give information to someone who asked.....I think Landy & Joy are a tremendous talent (Landy is also an awesome interior decorator).  So - my information posted is correct and nothing to be so upset about!  Both couples have been a tremendous blessing to people around the world!

Back to Landy Gardner....he grew up in Huntington, WV. His dad, Rev. Roland Gardner was the pastor of local (and very active church). Landy Gardner attended Marshall University and initially was interested in Biology / Medical Sciences.

I just simply asked for the point, because I felt it was odd that it was the only info you felt compelled to present.  I will add that not only are Landy and Joy a tremendous talent, they are a tremendous asset to Christ Church and you’ll never meet a couple more intent on being open to God’s leadership in their lives and the way they direct the choir.  I just wanted to make sure your info was not a way of trying to cast a shadow on that.  Too many do enough to tear down the kingdom by living contrary to the Word they preach for us to start trying to encourage gossip of those who are allowing God to do a good work through them.  I think the ministry of Christ Church Choir speaks for itself and would be entirely impossible under leadership not ordained by God.  That is the reason I asked for your point.  There is so much more to Landy and Joy than the statement you presented and I wanted to make that point clear.

I’m new here - although I think after this encounter - I probably won’t be back.  I don’t think I have time for this kind of controversy. My information was not meant as “encouraging gossip” but rather to give information to someone who had inquired about “anything” anyone might know.  I can’t imagine that you thought I was trying to cast a shadow on their ministry - most people who have been around southern gospel music for a number of years are well aware of the fact I presented - and it does not matter to them at all.  I can’t imagine someone thinking that anyone who comes to this website, interested in gospel music and taking the time to post, would be here to “start trying to encourage gossip of those who are allowing God to do a good work through them”.  Maybe if more facts were known, people would realize that those in gospel music are not superstars...they are just like the rest of us - “sinners saved by grace”.......

Since this site is not what I had originally thought - I will not be posting further......

Don’t get all upset beside yourself.  I didn’t mean to discourage you from posting and would never do that.  I just wanted to ask a simple question.  Sadly to say, there are many on here that do their best to encourage gossip and I was just making sure you weren’t doing the same.  No harm was meant.  You are right, maybe if more facts were known, people would realize that we are all human.  At the same time, I would like to know who in gospel music are superstars, LOL?  Truth be told, there are a lot of facts about Joy and Landy that could be shared that do nothing but show the work of God through them.  Sadly, many will try to nit pick the fact you presented and turn it into something it is not.  That has happened on this site on more than one occasion.  For those wanting more facts, here are a few.

Landy volunteers as choir director and is not a paid staff member (talk about sacrifice).
He has been doing this for 32 years.
In that time, the choir has been to Russia, performed at the Grand Ole Opry House, been nominated for Grammy’s, and has been recognized for excellence around the world all at the same time reflecting the image of Christ to a lost and dying world.  Their Christmas concert has been recorded and sent around the world to troops over seas to encourage and lift their spirits.

Landy is an accomplished designer. He donates all his time to the choir at Christ Church. He is one hard working dood in what ever he tackles. He is an emotional, spiritual choir director that expexts nothing but excellence when he’s directing the choir. Joy does most of the arranging along with Christopher Phillips a truly accomplished pianist. Beth Kolwick leads the choir when Landy is on the road doing business. I sang with the choir for a couple of years and have been a Christ Church member for 16 years. The Gaither stuff is fun but the worship services there are awesome. Maybe this will help clear up his history. JR

If he is paid, that is a recent development.  Although I would point out that he definitely deserves to be compensated for his time.  He is well worth it.
