My family will be leaving Saturday (the 28th) to visit our in-laws.  They live in a non-descript town in Illionois near the Missiouri border called Beverly, in Adams County.  The nearest town that anyone has heard would be Quincy.  It is about 20 miles away.  Also, a town called Liberty is between Beverly and Quincy.  Is there anyone on this site who lives in that area?  Is there anyone who has even heard of these places?  Her parents live on a farm, out in the middle of nowhere.  No cable, no internet (aaaaaagh!) The nearest Mcd’s is nearly 25 miles away!  I will be bored to death.  I am not allowed to bring my Xbox 360 (but I will pack it in the car before Beth comes home and starts packing other stuff!  She will never know...)

I am from NC and will offer a few suggestions for the trip :

- Take a fishing rod (I assume that the farm has a pond with bass, bluegill, etc.)
Fishing never gets old
- Take your BIBLE and read, read, read and grow closer to GOD
- Enjoy your time with your in-laws
- Ditch the xbox 360! wink

Have a safe trip!
Blessings,
Greg grin

Central IL isn’t a real big HOTBED for SG music.  For the most part, that area hasn’t heard any quality SGM for a number of years.

Anyway, I am from further east in IL, but am familiar with the area you described.  Living in RURAL IL means driving at least 20 minutes to purchase fuel, get a bite, see a movie, buy a stick of gum.  I suggest bringing a good book or seven, a couple of board games, a lot of patience, and leave everything else at home… that way you have an excuse to “run to town” and pick up a few things.

Yeah, you are right!  The last SG group I ever saw in that area was the Gold City qt back in July of 2002.  They sang at a local tv studio in Quincy that was incredibly hot!  It was the first time that I ever saw a professional group ever change their outfits during a show!  When they came on, they sang 2 songs, then Tim said “we’ll be right back...” They were gone about 5 minutes, during which time some announcements about future concerts were given (of which none ever appeared...).  When they returned, they had changed into a more casual look; the suits were gone!
