It’s all about the judges

Well, now it’s official. The biggest difference between McCain and Obama is the kind of judges that they will appoint to the Supreme Court. With the two most Liberal judges being in their late 70s and 80s the importance of Presidential appointments has never been more important. As the dust settles, this will be the defining argument in the race. The question remains to be answered if the Liberals in general and especially the young people will get energized over judges. We do know from past elections that Conservatives consider this a hot issue and will turn out to vote on this issue and the gay issue which will be front and center after the court rulings in California and the Mayor of New York’s interpretation of their laws.

Flip-flops won’t matter, the war won’t matter, the gas prices won’t matter. Read my lips, it’s about the judges.

Really? Since neither party is very thrilled about their candidate, I see this as one of the closest races ever. With the judges issue and the gay marriage issue, I see Republicans coming out pretty heavily to vote in November.
I think that the Republicans are going to really drive home Obama wanting to raise every tax he can find also.

Deon, I sincerely hope you are right.  I also greatly doubt it.

Just curious, why are you so negative?

The supreme court justices are the most powerful people in the world.  They are able to dictate policy, overrule all other legislative and executive decisions, and “interpret” the constitution to say whatever they wish.

I agree with Deon that this election is crucial because of the number of justices the next president will select.  However, I believe the Supreme Court has taken away our system of checks and balances in government.  The US Supreme Court justices are the single largest threat to our democratic way of life in the world.  More so than Osama, Kim Jong-il, or any other outside threat.

BTW, the president is just a figure-head.  He can’t make a single decision that the Supreme Court doesn’t approve of.  Neither can the senate or house.  NEITHER CAN THE VOTERS.

This nation was founded on the ideals that government would perform the will of the people.  The supreme court can take away our right to vote on issues, and reverse votes as they have done on controversial issues such as gay marriage and abortion.  Our nation has become a multi-headed dictatorship.  The president is not one of the heads.

If McCain wins i still don’t have any confidence that his picks for judges would be much different than Barack’s.
Other than his stance on the war on terrorism he sound as liberal as Barack.

What Obama have you been looking at? Obama hasn’t seen an abortion he didn’t like and he didn’t see a gay marriage he didn’t like. He loves PORK, and wants to give every entitlement away that he can find.
I am not a John McCain fan, but he is far and away better than Obama.

McCain is still pro-life and against gay marriage. That sets a wide gulf between them. McCain has said that he will nominate judges who will NOT legislate from the bench and choose from the likes of Roberts and Scalia. That’s pretty good in my eyes. We know the judges that Obama will nominate will all be anti-life and pro-gay.

I do not like McCain’s stand on the Environment or water-boarding, but he is still a far better choice than Obama. I will not be voting for McCain, but rather against Obama.

Sadly, most Liberals find abortion funny.

Obama is so liberal that the scenario put forward by Big Fred doesn’t seem so far fetched.  Yeah Deon, it is definitely sad that so many liberals find the murder of unborn babies funny.  They want more rights for our pets than our children.  They want more rights and protection for trees than the unborn children.  It is a sad day.

Wonder who will be the nation’s pastor in times of calamity and war:  Jerimiah Wright, Jesse Jackson, or Louis Farrakhan?  I’m sure Billy Graham is way too conservative… and too white!

I just don’t see any way for McCain to win.

He is not charismatic.  He is not rallying the base.  He will not get crossover votes, even though he is nearly a democrat himself.

I don’t see any scenario where he wins this election.

In addition to that, the House and Senate are likely to continue to be even more strongly held by the Dems.

Give me some reason for optimism, because I would truly love to believe them.

I see lots of hope for McCain to win. First, Obama got NO bump out of his “official” win over Hillary. That just never happens.

Secondly, McCain isn’t going to have to rally his base. The Conservatives are going to be “rallied” by the issue of judges and gay marriage.

Thirdly, McCain was quick to jump on the right side of the oil issue. As loudly as the American public has shouted drill now, we want short term answers while you work on long term answers, the Democrats still just don’t get it, and they are way too committed to radical Conservationists to back down from it. Every day that Obama wants high oil prices to conserve energy, he is losing votes, even Democrat votes, big time.

I see lots of reason for hope that McCain will win. Once again, he’s not my choice, but he’s a whole lot better than any other choice we have. I’ll hold my nose and vote, but I will vote, not because McCain has stirred me up, but because I’m tired of paying nearly $5 a gallon for gas. People won’t be voting for McCain, but rather FOR drilling for oil NOW.

If the people get disgusted enough over this oil problem, they just may decide to vote out the Democrats who are blocking progress from drilling oil.
