mpg’s, wmvs, avi. I really like flash, but I do not see a lot of people using it. Which is more Mac friendly?

Not a lot of Flash?? You ever been to youtube?  Flash is very popular but does take some learning.  I guess it all depends on what you are doing with the videos.  If you are embedding them in web pages then it doesn’t really matter what you use since you embed the player into the page (assuming you know how to code everything properly that is).  If you’re talking about just being able to play the files locally on different computers then Flash is a very good option since it allows you to import many types of video files and the Flash Player is free and available in Windows and Mac format.  Quicktime is also freely available for Windows and Mac and supports playing avi files.

Thanks Jim. I didn’t realize utube was flash based. I know my way around audio, but I’m trying to learn more about video. What I want to do is put clips of videos on web sites, and I am trying to figure out which format is the best for the surfer. My coding skills are so-so I guess, although I haven’t done any embedding...that might be the best option. When you see those vids with a big “play” icon (as in utube), is that embedding? That seems to be more and more the standard way to display the vidcap and give a visual cue that clicking plays the video.
