Dottie Rambo has given us so many wonderful songs that I know it would be hard for anyone to narrow down to your MOST favorite song, but what song would you put at the top of the list among your favorites by Dottie Rambo?

I think at the top of my list would be her song “Promises”.  The words are so beautiful and offer so much encouragement for so many situations.

“He didn’t tell me that I would never stumble,
But He DID say He’d be there if I fall,
He didn’t tell me He’d hear complaints I whisper
But He DID say He’d hear me if I call.

He didn’t tell me my cross would not be heavy
But he DID say that He my load would bear
He didn’t tell me He grant my hopes and wishes
But He DID say He’d hear my earnest prayer.

Promises----promises---
And ALL of them true
He’s done exactly what He said He would do
He didn’t tell me my heart would not be broken
But He DID say He’d mend it again.

Promises----Promises---
And ALL of them true.”

There are sooo many good songs by Dottie Rambo.  One that comes to my mind is “When I Lift Up My Head” as follows:

Chorus:
When I’m down (when I’m down)
When I’m down and out (when I’m down and out)
When my heart (when my heart)
Is filled with fear and doubt
Then I lift up my head and He lifts up my heart
And my troubles just all roll away
Roll away, Lord (roll away)
Troubles rolled away, Lord(roll away, Lord)
Roll away, Lord (roll away)
Troubles rolled away, Lord(roll away, Lord)
When I lift up my head and He lifts up my heart
And my troubles just all roll away

Well I can’t see the sun with my head to the ground
Tears dim my vision and weigh my heart down
But I get this feeling when I kneel to pray
When I lift up my head and He lifts up my heart
And my troubles just all roll away

Repeat Chorus

Roll away
Roll away

I love all of Dottie Rambo’s music so much, it would be so hard to narrow down to a single favorite.  I never had the opportunity to see the Rambos in person, but listened to their recordings ever since I was a child.  I remember Vestal Goodman speaking of Dottie Rambo during a revival at our church sharing how Dottie wrote under such anointing.  How true, how true!

I don’t think I can narrow it down to just one.

I GO TO THE ROCK
BEHOLD THE LAMB
I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS HOMESICK BEFORE
HE LOOKED BEYOND MY FAULTS & SAW MY NEEDS

My 2 biggest favorites are:

You Will Have to Live the Song
In the Valley He Restoreth My Soul

Other songs that I love are:

The Perfect Rose
O Blessed Hope
Love Letters
Unmerited Favor of God
Until He Comes
Tears will Never Stain
I’ve Never Been this Homesick Before
Behold the Lamb

And OH so many more!  There isn’t a Dottie Rambo song I don’t like...some I like more than others, but I haven’t heard a Rambo song that I didn’t like.

These are ALL good ones.  As has already been said, Dottie didn’t write bad ones!  The good Lord gave us all a gift when He gave Dottie her writing ability!

In my opinion she wrote many bad ones but when she wrote a good one, it was great!
“The Holy Hills” has to be borderline brilliant, lyrically.( this house of clay is but a prison, bars of bone hold my soul.
but the doors of flesh are gonna burst wide open,
when the angels set my spirit free!) pretty good huh? you bet!
The Oaks had the best cut!

Sorry, High, but nobody sang that song as well as the Rambos themselves. My fav Dottie Rambo song has to be “Sheltered In The Arms Of God”.

My first album I EVER remember was Dottie’s solo album, backed by The Imperials..... I still have the album.....

When I lift Up my Head
THE CHURCH TRIUMPHANT was my all time fave.....
My trio, Bloodline, sings and just recorded Sheltered in the Arms of God
and We sing an accapella version of He looked beyond my Fault

Both get very good response.

I agree with the person above who said she never wrote a bad song..... of course, if she did, she would have never let anyone hear it lol
