What does it say about a man?

What does it say about a man when he leaves a church that he attended for 20 years, and just a couple of months ago said how he loved that church, but no disavows it, just in hope of becoming President? It either shows lack of commitment or lack of judgment. Neither, something that I want in the leader of my country.

Deon,
Sounds like “selfication” (self justification - I just made that up, I think). Our society is very good at that. Too bad this incident had to happen for him to realize it’s time to leave this church. But then again - this kinda thing sells well.

He has attended a church for 20 years that (1) unashamedly bashes white people, (2) makes slanderous remarks about our country, and (3) endorses the actions of lawless individuals.

I hope people will remember his associations when we choose between him and McCain.  I’ll take a patriot any day.  I also prefer someone with Christian roots, not Islamic/Atheistic beliefs.

I, as well. His religious ties are very disturbing. I sure hope that our nation will pray, pray , pray and pray some more on this presidential election. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if he (Obama) didn’t even get the democratic nomination.

It says that he was there only because it was good for him politically at the time.  It says that he puts his own ambitions ahead of what is good for his kids, family, or country.  It says that he is scrambling to try to disguise himself to the American people. It says an aweful lot I think.

I’m sure leaving his church was a difficult decision for Obama. I will pray God is with him during this time of transision, and that God leads him to a church more representative of his values and beliefs. May God bless him as he runs to lead this great nation.

Big Fred,

I pray that he finds God so this transition is a real transition.  After all, he could hardly come to understand and know the love of God attending a radical church that teaches a doctrine ("black" liberation theology) that is based around so much hate and animossity (pardon the spelling if wrong, didn’t feel like looking it up).  To Obama, the decision however was probably as easy as changing his underwear.  He is doing anything that seems politically expediant at the time, including now having a love fest with Hillary Clinton.  My how things change in 24 hours.

That is a personal attack of which you know nothing about. (if you are a personal friend of Obama or have attended Obama’s church, my appologies).

It would be best to stick to the issues.

it seems he is all about change sorry for the long post but this says a little more about his change to make a difference
In his own words......

Excerpts from Barack Obama’s Book(s)

Pay close attention to the last comment!!

From Dreams of My Father:  “I ceased to advertise my
mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to
suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to
whites.”

From Dreams of My Father :  “I found a solace in
nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity
against my mothers race.”

From Dreams of My Father:  “There was something about
him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself,
maybe. And white.”

From Dreams of My Father:  ; “It remained necessary to
prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to
the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

From Dreams of My Father:  “I never emulate white men
and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It
was into my father’s image, the black man, son of
Africa , that I ‘d packed all the attributes I sought
in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm,
DuBois and Mandela.”

From Audacity of Hope:  “I will stand with the Muslims
should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

wow, the neocon wingnuts are already busy misquoting and making outright fabrications, altering his words etc, then sending out emails to each other.

I think this kind of stuff might have worked at one time, now it just makes them look silly.

Wow, you mean he attended, and was a member of a church for 20 years that was not representative of his values and beliefs? Again, what does that say about a man?

Big Fred,

Just to clarify, I feel that he has been in a church for twenty years that is based out of a theology filled with hate.  The Bible says that you will be recognized by the fruit you bare.  Obama has been so liberal and to the left on the wrong issues so many times that yes it makes me doubt a “true"relationship with God.  Is that a personal attack?  No.  Now the way you tried to portray McCain’s service to his country in another thread is an attack.  Whether you want it to be or not, Obama’s associations are an issue.  No one knows anything about him.  All we know is that he gives a good speech and in them says nothing of substance.  The old saying is, “you become like the people you hang around.” You usually do a pretty good job at arguing your points, but this one is to big for even “Big Fred”.  Maybe you should try to stick to the issues, because on this issue you fail miserably.  There is no way to excuse Obama for these associations.
