I heard a preacher a while back, preaching that Jesus took the stripes on His back for our healing, both physical and spiritual. He took those stripes for our healing of cancer, arthritis, heart problems, and everything that we can think of, but it may not be God’s will to heal you physically.
He also took those stripes for our spiritual healing of bitterness, strife, hatred, lust, and any sinful thing you can think of, but we know that it is His will to heal us of those spiritual diseases.

If it is as this preacher said, how do we know that if it isn’t His will to heal us physically, when he did take the stripes for those healings too, then maybe it isn’t His will to heal us of those spiritual diseases also?

First of all, God is not double minded.  If Jesus took stripes for our healing, then it is God’s will to heal.  If He ever healed one person of any thing at any time, then it is God’s will.  The bible says that God doesn’t respect one more than the other.  If he did something for someone else He wouldn’t do for me, then he respects them more.  He doesn’t.

Secondly, If I believe God CAN heal, then my only question is “will God heal?” Would you heal your child of cancer if you could?  Would you heal your wife of diabetes?  If you would, then do you believe your have the capacity to be kinder and love more than God?  God IS love.  It’s His nature.  He’s much better at it than us.  Most belive God CAN heal.  Some believe he will not heal or heals respectively.  I personally believe healing was provided with the stripes just as salvation was provided with the cross.  We have to receive healing just as we receive salvation.  Neither one is provided when I need it.  Both healing and salvation have already been provided by Jesus’ work on the cross and at the whipping post.

Thirdly, we struggle with why everyone is not healed.  Everyone is not saved either, but God doesn’t “will” for them to perish.  There are numerous factors in why we don’t receive healing.  I don’t pretend to know everyone.  We live in a fallen world, separated from what God intended by mans choice to sin.  The more I understand the nature of God, the less I can understand why people blame Him when bad things happen.  Every evil, every bad thing, every disease, every “curse” in the world today is because of satan and sin.

Very good post.
