I see no forum devoted to computer issues...if this needs to be moved, please do.

I have a 19” LCD with speakers that completely went down.  It’s like the power cable went bad....no power light comes on, or anything.  It’s definitely not the power cable.

I couldn’t find a computer or TV shop that works on them.  It’s a HP that is only 18 months old.
I’ve reverted back temporarily (I hope) to a dinosaur 15” 8 year old Samtron that STILL working great.

Anyone got any ideas for me?
Thanks,
Chuck

Did you purchase a warranty with the monitor? It’s sounds like something internally like a chip or board. I would start there. I know this is aggravating for you. I work with computer programs daily and I know the heartache that comes with them long face

Blessings!

I had trouble understanding this..."It’s definitely not the power cable”...? did you test it? Most of those LCD monitors have the power supply in the AC cord, and that supply can go bad. If you’re not getting any lights, anything, the power supply is the first thing i would look at. Unfortuneately they are usually not generic, and you have to get replacement from the manufacturer.

I used a power cable that works, and it didn’t correct the problem.

The cord I used came for this Samtron monitor I’m using right now, and it works for it.  The power cords “appear” to interchange to me.
Also, the power cord that came with the LCD works on this old monitor that I’m now using.
Thanks for all the input.

Unfortunately, I think most LDC monitors come with a standard 1 year warranty.  If you purchased the warranty extension then you should be covered.  If not, then you will need to contact them to get info on sending it in for repair.  http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html

In my experience, if the item is not under warranty, you will most times be better off from a financial stand point to just purchase a new monitor.  You can get a new 19” or 20” widescreen LCD for less than $200. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=19&name=Monitors
