I would like to know your thoughts on this topic. Do you feel that by going green we can save the earth? And if so what are we saving the earth from?
There are some things that my wife and I recycle, such as our plastic grocery
bags, but we don’t take it to extremes. I love to plant trees, shrubs, etc. only for the fact that I love yard work, landscaping, etc.

First off, I don’t think the global warming thing is as bad as they make it. Yes, there may be some issues, but it has become a political issue, and there are scientists who have come up with facts to contradict Gore and his minions, but they are scorned and made to look like fools.
Interestingly enough, some of the main people behind the global warming scare were claiming back in the 70’s that we were going to have the reverse: a big freeze earth wide. They were wrong then, and I don’t think they are right now.
If, there are global warming issues, I don’t believe there is much we can do about it at this point, and I don’t think all of the stuff they claim will happen is relaistic, and even if it is, we won’t be around to see it.  If the global warming advocates get their way, we will all be taxed or worse for any contributions that the government deems harnful to the environment, and if the wrong person becomes president, we may lose a lot of rights because of global warming.
One way to look at it, and I am not saying we shouldn’t take care of the earth God created, is: God didn’t create the earth to last forever. Some day, and maybe sooner than we think, He is coming back and will destroy the earth by fire.
In closing, I will point out something my friend said, which is a good point: In the final days when God is pouring out His wrath on the earth, if global warming is still a craze, it could very likely be what people blame for all the calamities.

I agree. The media can pretty much report/say what they want to and people will believe. My wife & I watched Al’s documentary and the first thing I thought of was the movie “THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW” (one of my favorites)

I agree 100%. I was hoping this would come up. I am glad that I won’t be consumed in that fire that GOD will destroy the earth with. I have to say, though, it upsets me whenever someone throws garbage out of their cars instead of waiting until they got home to properly dispose of it. It brings an ugliness to GOD’S creation.

Thanks for your input.

This global warming thing is probably a natural phenomenon that only God can fix. AND HE MOST LIKELY WON’T! I believe there is a scripture reference that mankind will destroy himself [paraphrased].  Could it be that in our search to continuously do bigger & better things in every area of “civilization”, we are actually messing up planet earth? For those who believe Mr. Gore [Chicken Little], “the sky is falling”. I guess they could perceive also that people from Mars are causing this global warming thing? I never ceae to be amazed how people can do and say such foolish things and actually get rich off of it! This is jusT my two cents worth about the matter, but what do I know, except, I don’t know what tomorrow holds but “I KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW.”

It amazes me how the media can make things sound legit. I am afraid that mankind is it’s own enemy. But then again people will believe anything as long as it sounds good. (you know that ole saying). This reminds me of I CORINTHIANS 3, especially verses 18-19 which states “18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with GOD. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” excaim

I love that promise excaim

I try to make sure that my family recycles anything that can be recycled. Our town doesn’t have curb side pick up for recyclables so I take them to a recycling center in our area. I feel guilty tossing something into the garbage that can be recycled. I’m a person who hates seeing stuff tossed out on the side of the road and I never allow my kids to do this.

My opinion is that Christians should try to take care of the earth because God originally placed Adam and Eve in the garden with the mandate to take of it. This is in addition to the fact that if Jesus doesn’t come back soon our kids are going to be dealing with finding new ways to dispose of mountains of garbage. That’s not a legacy I want to leave. I use cloth diapers on my baby because (1) it’s better for him, (2) I don’t feel guilty throwing away bags of diapers that will take who knows how long to break down, (3) I don’t spend money on expensive disposables, (4) cloth diapers are sooo cute!

I don’t see why doing things to keep the earth a little cleaner mean that you have to be classified as a left wing tree hugger, and if you are a Christian you can’t be concerned with the environment. Perhaps Christians should actually be leading the charge on this one by saying that we are stewards of what God has given us and the Bible does say to do everything as if you are doing it to Him. As with everything, I think we have to take into account that there is a balance between doing what’s right for people and what’s right for our environment. As for global warming, I don’t know if it is real or not, but I can’t help thinking when there are millions of vehicles out there spewing out fumes on a daily basis, that is going to eventually impact the air quality somehow. Look at the major cities where there’s a brown haze hanging in the air.

There’s no denying that many of our health-related issues can be traced back to pollution of water, air, etc. And after all, the creation is under a curse and even groans under it. So I can’t wait for the day when Jesus says “Behold, I make all things new”! I think that we can’t begin to understand how beautiful the new earth will be without all the trash and pollution upon it. Now that, my friends, should make lost environmentalists want to get saved!
