I may be biased, but Joe Bonsall is my all-time favorite tenor (and dear friend).
My favorite tenors are not the ones who sound too thin or nasal. I like tenors who have POWER behind them. Funderburk is the bar by which I judge other tenors - he could hit those screaming high notes, and still have power behind them without sounding strained. He also had a beautiful ballad voice.
Currently, I think Steve Ladd is one of the best tenors on the road today. He has grown by leaps and bounds since joining Gold City, and continues to do so. He’s gonna be one that people talk about years from now.
