I am wondering who wrote the song “It’s My Desire”.  (It’s my desire to live for Jesus, it’s my desire to live for Him, so often I’ve failed him........) A friend of mine sang that at church a few weeks ago and I’ve been trying to determine who wrote it, but “google” hasn’t helped!  Thanks for any help!

Given the age of the song, I’ll make an educated guess that this is the info on it:
JAMES D VAUGHAN MUSIC PUB
c/o Spiritsound Music Group
1441 Guthrie Dr NW
Cleveland , TN 37311-3642
Phone:  423 478-7784
Fax:  423 478-7639

If not, I would say someone there could help find the info on it.

I didn’t think it was a very old song… I think the first time I heard it was about 1984 or so....

I’m thinking of the Blackwood Bros. song back in the 70s, which I think was a remake at the time.  Here’s one listed on DB Murray’s site:

Maybe that’s the one you’re looking for.

I could be 100% wrong, but it seems like Lanny Wolfe may have written it. Found the lyrics on a site that sells soundtracks - you might be able to email them:

Thanks for all of the info!!  I did a little more research (using some of your info.) and found that Jimmy Pearce wrote a song by that title in 1975 (the year I was born btw!).  Anyone know if this is the song and the writer?!?

I kept thinking it was Pearce, and yes, Jimmy is the one who wrote the song you are thinking of.  I think the Downings first recorded it back in 1975, and I almost best it was published through their publishing company at that time.  It may have changed hands by now.

Mr. Pearce has a MySpace page where you can contact him if you wish.  I’m sure he could verify and send you to the right info regarding a current publisher if you need.  http://www.myspace.com/thepearces

The first time I heard this song it was performed by Donny McGuire on a Downings album.  It was in the late ‘70"s.  There is a second verse.  In fact, I have sung this song many times in the past.  Very powerful

I heard the Dony McGuire in the Downings version of this song (a live version from an lp) and love it. I actually thought of the song the other day for a soloist at my church.
