Here’s an interesting bit of news from Texas that might be worth a discussion. This school has voted in favor of allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons provided they have a permit.
So many angles to take on this one. (Not the least of which would be to invite my buddy SGMusician to see if he can think of any other countries where the teachers are so worried about students that they carry concealed guns! Wink wink).
What are your thoughts on this?

I think you have to “consider the source”. Its Texas “for Pete’s sake”. In Texas, everyone carries a gun, but lets look at it another way. What happens when you have signs up saying no guns allowed? You have senseless shootings that kill innocent people like those that happened in that mall in Omaha. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westroads_Mall_shooting
You also have the senseless shootings that happened in places like Columbine, the Pearl High School Shootings, and the ones that happened in KY (can’t remember the name at the moment). You see, those signs mean nothing to those that want to do damage. They mean nothing to those that are going to break the law anyway, however to the law abiding citizens that obey them, they mean the difference between life and death. If not for those signs, an eyewitness to the Omaha shooting ( who had a permit to carry a gun but could not in the mall because of the posted signs) would have been able to take out the shooter after the first shot. It would have saved lives, but that posted sign not allowing guns cost some people their lives.
So in my opinion, I give cudos to this school board. If the students know that a teacher may have the weapon to stop them, then they will be less likely to start shooting to begin with. It is a sad day in our public schools and I have a bunch of family members that teach and work in public schools. The number one issue facing them today is lack of discipline. There is no thought on the students mindsets of punishment. They feel they can do anything and there is really nothing the school can do about it except write their name on a demerit. “Oooh, how scary. They wrote my name on a peace of paper.”
By the way Tony, I look forward to reading your answer to the response I left on the other blog that made us such great friends, LOL!
