Anyways, the chorus to When I Cry goes like this....

I have a hard time explaining / typing my thoughts but I will try my best.

First, there is no crying in heaven.
Second, there is rejoicing in heaven when someone goes on to be w/ the Lord
Third, I realize Christ went through it all for us here on Earth.

I will note, I haven’t backed any of this w/ scripture yet.  Just wanting to see what other people’s thoughts are for right now.

The Talley Trio are such sweet and endearing people!  We thoroughly enjoyed the time with them and were tremendously blessed all evening long!  By the way, Roger Talley did deliver quite a message from Michael Booth.  We hear that Michael is now running for President and wears a t-shirt stating such and that he has just about as good a chance as the other candidates.  All too funny, Michael! LOL!!!  But, actually there just might be some truth to that!  Hmmmm. . . . . .  Well, even though you weren’t there tonight, your spirit was felt through this message! LOL!!! 

But all in all, this was an absolutely, most enjoyable and blessed evening with The Talley Trio!  We were so glad we were able to attend!  Thank you, Roger, Debra and Lauren!  It was a pleasure meeting you and spending the evening with you!  We love you guys!

I will have to tell you, they are the reason I became a fan of SG in the first
place!  I fell in love with them, and southern gospel.  Because of the message I
heard, and the amount of worship that goes on during their concerts my life has
been changed!

I realize there are many groups out there, and there does seem to be some
jealousy.  But I believe there is a place for GVB and related groups, and they
are changing lives for God!  I have been to twelve concerts now and have never
seen or heard anything that was not appropriate and Godly!

I am just curious as to the attitudes I have noticed on this board.  I am not
trying to be critical in any way, or cause any kind of a fuss!!!!!  Thank you for
giving my post your attention.  Confused

I just finished watching a video my grandfather gave me this afternoon, I have seen this video a hundred times or more (use to be my favorite} but it brought back memories of what I remember SG to be.  The video was Kings Gold, I sat there and watched the whole thing wondering about why SG has changed, I was thinking about writing this post and getting other people’s opinion.  So lets make a few comparisons to the video and SG today.

1. There is a LIVE BAND!!!!  I know a lot of people say that a live band doesn’t make a difference, but I have to dis-agree, there was a drive and excitement as Taco, Anthony, Greg, Doug and Mark Fain played.  There is an excitement that comes along with a live band that you don’t get with soundtracks.  SG is the only genre that comes to mind that does not have a live band and uses sound tracks

2. There is little to NO stacked vocals or extra music tracks {I dare say there was no stack vocals} What I heard on the video was great singing nothing more nothing less.  I can handle stacks when they are not overdone, unfortunately most groups today have way to many stacks.  Kingsmen, Hinsons, Gold City and others had talent they didn’t need the stacks, I think there is still some good talent out there, but its hard to tell with all the stacks, pitch machines and other things that are used today.

3. There was EXCITEMENT on stage, I think this is one of the biggest let downs today is groups just get up there and sing, nothing wrong with that, but it does get boring.  Jim Hamill {IMO} is one of the best Emcees to over a grace a stage, he always had something up his sleeve, there was never a dull moment when he was on stage.  George Younce was the same way.  McGruders and Hinsons was one of my favorites, when they hit the stage they hit running and didn’t stop until it was over! All other genre’s have excitement when they hit the stage or else they couldn’t pack out 20,000 seat arenas. 

4. It was ENTERTAINING {I can see the comments now} Hello?? Whats wrong with Christians being entertained?  They still had some serious moments on the video, but overall it was very entertaining.  EH&SS;have the entertaining part down!!  Everyone looks for entertainment, whether tv, movies, or music, like it or not people want to be entertained!

I will admit the last couple of concerts I went to I was BORED to death!!  I haven’t been to a concert in 3 years, {other than the occasional Dollywood visit} but I still find myself looking at sites like this, to see what is going on in SG.  I do catch an occasional SG video show, and I see the same thing, people trying so hard, yet it is so boring!  The last Kingdom Heir show I seen, I almost stood and gave a standing ovation when the new piano player sang and Author , the tenor and bass singer went over to the piano and sang a song. There was a live band, NO STACKS, and yep they even messed up {planned or not} that was entertaining and the best thing they did all day! 

Any one getting where I’m going with this? 
Sorry this was so long, I hope it made sense, I just want to see if other agree with me.  Before I close, I do not listen to a lot of Southern Gospel, but I do enjoy a few groups so my remarks are NOT meant to bash any group or anyone spreading the gospel through song!

Before Breakfast Club started Jeff got up and gave an update on Sheri.  He said God had provided unusually speedy surgeries - both the cancer surgery and the reconstruction.  Both were performed on Tuesday!!  They only saw the reconstruction surgeon on Monday!  Now THAT is a minor miracle in itsself!!!  He did give a very iformational account.  At least surgery wise - out of 20 lymph nodes tested, 2 were positive.  That’s a pretty good ratio.  But since there were 2 positive, she’ll be facing either chemo or radiation.  I don’t believe the treatment has yet been decided.  Anyhow, Jeff said Sheri is home, and Madison and Maura are also home.  A gal who’d travelled with them as a nanny was also there.  Morgan and Jeff will be doing some of their own songs.

Continue to pray for God to keep His hand on Sheri, Jeff and the entire family.

My question is : How do you feel about artists taking drinks of water, or whatever else they drink, on stage during performances or while another member of the group is singing?  Is it too noticeable, distracting, does it matter, does it look unprofessional, etc. ?

I’d like to read other’s thoughts on this label.

Would it help distinguish stylistically betweeen groups like the Inspirations and LordSong?  Could it be beneficial or would it hurt?  What groups would fall into the “Contemporary” label?
