The Standridges, Sherman. Jan, Carter-Ann, and Olivia are a wonderful family group that comes to us from Hemingway, SC. Their latest project "Heaven Will Be Worth Waiting For" is a nice mixture of some original songs from the pen of Jan Carter Standridge, and a variety of other fine writers. The album starts off with a very nice ballad written by Jan, "Noah's Song". They follow up with a song made popular by Jeff and Sheri Easter, "Help Me To Stand".
"Old Campmeeting Days" is the third track on the CD and features Sherman Standridge. "Who Am I", the great song by Rusty Goodman is well done. This song never grows old. Jan contributes another great song "I'm Really Living This Time". This would be a great radio song, along with the next cut on the CD "God Told Me To Walk A Little Farther", written by Ruby Cook. This song really has a string beat.
"The Blood Covers It All" shows off some nice harmony. This is a really pretty ballad written by Jan Standridge. They picked up the tempo with "Someone In That House Believed". I really liked this song, but I thought the track may have been a little over orchestrated.
Eleven year old Olivia is featured on "Just As Faithful In The Storm". This is a good, driving Southern Gospel song. The title cut, "Heaven Will Be Worth Waiting For", is a good three quarter time song, written by Jan, and dedicated to the memory of Sherman's brother, Dean. The final track on the album is "They Did Not Know". This song, also composed by Janis a nice ballad that features her and 14 year old Carter-Jan.
The Standridges have good tight harmony that only comes from family groups. I will be anxious to hear this group in a couple of years when the girl's voices have matured a little more. You can already hear that they are going to be great.
This was a good project and would be worth checking out.
