The Needhams are a fine family group based out of Murfreesboro, TN. Their latest self titled recording shows off their versatility. With three songwriters in the group, they have put together a very strong recording.

Corrina Needham has written a very good song in “Take Time”. This song kicks the project off with a more progressive style and Corinna does a great job taking the lead on this one. “It’s A Shower of Blessing (The Rain Song)” is a very pretty ballad from the pen of Dianne Needham Mummert who is also featured on this song. Dianne also wrote the next song, “What Grandma Said”. Dave Needham shows off his vocal abilities on this nice mid tempo song. Many of you will remember Dave from his days as vocalist and bass player for the Dixie Melody Boys.

“Child of the King” is a nice change of pace, with a more traditional country sound. Lyrically I found it to be a little repetitive but overall, it is a good song. “This Is It” is a good story song featuring Dave and slows the tempo down. They let dad, David, take a turn on a more traditional country style song, “Someday Soon”.

“One More Chance” will be popular with the younger fans and has some nice chord progressions. Corrina does a great job on this song with a little pop flair in her vocals. “You Are My Healing” is a pretty country ballad featuring Eileen Needham. Steve Mummert gets his chance to shine on “I’m Going Back” written by Dianne.

“Pennies from Heaven” takes a turn towards bluegrass with an acoustical track. Dianne wrote this song as well and it has some interesting chord progressions . This song will remind you a little of the songs that have put the Isaacs on the map.

Dave Neeham sings a great song, “Pressing toward the Mark”. This song has a hot track and Dave does some good country gospel vocals on this one. They have chosen to close the album out with a contemporary version of the classic hymn, “Rock of Ages”. I thought the arrangement was very nice.

The Needhams do some fine singing on this project and I would recommend you check it out. Family harmonies are hard to beat. Also check out their website for in depth information about their material and the roots of this great family group.

This is a great project. The writing is great and their vocal delivery is top notch. I've also been able to hear their brand new project that will be released on the Song Garden label and it is really great. These guys deserve to be heard!
