The Lasters - Crucified: Vol. II

imageProducers: Will E. Laster and Mike McClain
Song Titles: “He’s Not Dead, He Lives Again,” “Crucified,” “God’s Greatest Creation,” “I Shall Remain True To You,” “That’s Why We Sing,” “God’s Nursery,” “Oh Lord, Help The World See,” “His Name Is Jesus,” “I’ll See You On The Other Side,” “Submit It And Forget It,” and “I Made It Home”

The Lasters are a father/daughter (Will and Erica) vocal duo. Will Laster wrote or co-wrote 10 of the 11 songs on Crucified: Vol. II (which released in 2002) and also handled graphic design and co-production duties. Unfortunately, it is poor songwriting and graphic design that plague this CD the most. On a positive note, the music tracks are pretty good for an independent project and the vocal performance quality is about average.

We don't need someone's opinion to tell us what we already know to be professional annointed quality. I have been in music all my life and I can compare all the criteria myself. I do know quality when I see it. Folks, that is an opinion.

Many things are considered by some to of bad quality, but to the people it is marketable quality. That sounds like jesus christ. If people are looking for projects without flaw, they will never find it, this side of glory.

The question that should be asked is not whether a project measures up to another, but "what is the underlying theme of the project?" And "did it
fulfill its' purpose with its presentation?"

We are comfortable with what God has created through us and this ministry. The project changes lives everwhere we go and that is and will always be the focus of all that we record and minister. The project is ministry in itself.

We try to create professional realism. That is what people are looking for. They want something "real." That is why jesus was a hit with the people.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. We can't please everyone. Jesus didn't and his own people crucified him. We knew going into this project that it would run against the grain of many people, but it had to go forward. Hence, the title of the project; The Lasters...Crucified. Jesus broke the traditions of man to save the world. If we have to break with tradition to win one lost soul; so be it!

There will be those who will embrace this project and they will be blessed according to the riches in glory. There will be those who will not and they will receive their reward as well.

As the adminstrators for SoGospelNews.com I feel that it is very important that a few things are understood about our CD Reviews.

We believe in honest reviews of the art/craft. These are NOT reviews of the ministry. Ministry value is not determined by a CD review. However, music/art/craft can be judged on it's own merit. Never do we evaluate one's effectiveness in ministry based upon a CD review. We will never give "cookie-cutter" reviews. We believe that everyone in this industry should strive for excellence within the craft of music. If a CD review is not excellent then we hope that our reviews will help steer that artist to strive toward improving their craft.

Also, please remember that a review is just the review of ONE person. That doesn't make that one person the only authority on the CD. As already stated another reviewer would have given a different review. Many of our reviews will indicate that everyone does not agree with the reviewer's critique. That is good. Whether you agree or disagree with a reviewer we hope that at the least a review will make you think about the project.

We encourage interaction on the reviews. It is good to read more than one opinion. We need to hear more than one opinion. We value each opinion.

Please keep in mind that never does a CD review evaluate the ministerial value of those artists. Never does one person's opinion speak for everyone.
