Often times, coming off a really good recording, it is hare to out do the last performance. Not so with this new CD release by the Hoppers. This is no doubt one of the biggest sounding CDs that the Hoppers have ever put out, and it has some great sounds on it.  It starts out with a very nice rendition of the old hymn “I Sing The Mighty Power”. This just sets the mood for entire project.

There is also a very nice cover of the Carol Roberson song “She Found Jesus Alive”. They give it an extra flair that I haven’t heard on any other recordings of this song. You will need about two boxes of Kleenex as you listen to a heart-rending performance by Connie on “See How She Loves Him”, a song of how strong the love between a man and wife are even through the terrible circumstance of Alzheimers.

There are some really good songs on here that I would like to see go to radio, including “Great Day In The Morning”, “God Is Good’, “I Call You Faithful”, and “Jerusalem.” The first three are nice upbeat songs that are always great for radio, but “Jerusalem” is a song that has taken the Hoppers a step further than they have ever been. Even though the track starts out reminiscent to the Lion King sound track and you keep waiting for this big lion roar, it sets the environment for the rest of the song. You are waiting in anticipation for the song, and you are not disappointed. This song is sure to have people out of their seats at concerts, but it may also be hard to keep your car on the road while listening to this at drive time.

“We Are America” is a nice patriotic song, which is always appropriate in this time we live in. It is nice to see Spring Hill using a lot of patriotic material with their artists.

Other songs include “Child Of God”, “Going Home Forever”, and “Look For Me Around The Throne”.

Rating:  5 Star Rating

I love the Hoppers. I Love Larry Goss. I love writers like Carroll Roberson and others on this project. I just couldn't get into this one. I've tried. I really want to like it, but it's difficult. I can't find anything like "Shoutin' Time" or "She Cries", but I'm still listening. Maybe it'll hit me later.

I purchased my copy of The Hoppers "Great Day" in early September. I wrote about this recording before (Nicky) I was not the least bit disappointed with the outcome. I love it. And like I expected "Jerusalem" was my fav track. But I also really liked the song "I Call You Faithful" Really COOL smile The song "Child Of God" was really comforting to me as I listened to it just after my grandmother passed away. The song along with God's unseen hand really helped me. If you check singingnews.com you will see that the first song off of this recording (God Is Good) is already riding to the top of the chart. I'm sure Jerusalem is sure to follow. If you have not got this CD already, YOU NEED TOO!
