The Dooleys open their new project Everyday Miracle with an upbeat gospel number called "Can I get an Amen." I'm sure this makes a great concert opener too! The title cut "Everyday Miracle" is up next, reminding us that we're surrounded by the wonders of God everyday. The girls sound especially great on this song with their family harmonies. "Nothing but the Blood" has the Dooleys showing off their a capella abilities. I wasn't impressed by this cut, but they later redeemed themselves on "Fairest Lord Jesus" and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" two other a capella tunes featured on the album.
The group changed things up a bit with a very different arrangement of "Something Beautiful." I have to admit that up until this song, the Dooleys weren't winning me over. The harmonies, tightness of sound and feel from this point on are a world away from the first several tunes. The quality continues on "I Got You." It's a very different up tempo song. I'd love to hear this song on SG radio! "Rescued Me" is great too! Bart, the only boy among 4 sisters, seems more than comfortable singing this song. "Journey On" is a rockin' country cut and keeps the pace going.
"God is Listening" is a moving lyric coupled with the Dooley family harmony, making it a great addition to this project. "Keep the Faith" closes out the Dooley experience on the right note. With a slight country flair, this upbeat tune sends the listener off with an encouraging message.
Though the first few cuts were less than I had hoped for, this is still a very strong record. I highly recommend it, and look forward to hearing and seeing more of the Dooleys.
