Doug and Dianne Diggles along with their daughters Christina and Katie have put together a brand new project, You Are My Strength.

“Lord I Know That I Can Count on You”, written by Dianne Wilkinson, gets the project off and running. This song features the vocals of Dad, Doug and girls Christina and Katie. Doug does a solo job on a self composed song, “You Are My Strength”.

Another song from the pen of Dianne Wilkinson, “Salvation Is a Miracle to Me”, picks the tempo back up and once again features dad and the girls. They even take a stab at the Rex Nelon classic, “I Love to Call His Name”. Usually a quartet song, they sing it as a trio with Doug taking the bass lead. Many of the tracks from this project were leased from the Kingdom Heirs and will be familiar to Southern Gospel fans.

“Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” is a traditional hymn, done with organ accompaniment and features Christina on a solo effort. This is followed by the girls reciting Psalm 19. “I’m Winging My Way Back Home”, another quartet song is once again attempted by the trio, with Doug dropping down to sing the bass leads.

The Diggles Family has included a very pretty song from the pen of Phil Cross, “The Embrace of Grace”. They follow this up with the old classic, “I’ll Fly Away”. Katie sings the solo on “Jesus Loves Me”, which is followed by the girls reciting Psalm 150.

They close the project out with “Little Bitty Mustard Seed”. This fun little song written by Tim Lovelace and Randy Miller features the girls on the verses.

Doug Diggles has a nice voice and definitely shows off a wide range on the project. The girls are very young and have good potential as their voices mature. They are already singing some difficult harmonies and after parts. Overall though, the project was very pitchy, which could have been fixed in studio. A better selection of material would have helped as well. The quartet songs were very empty without the fourth harmony part. I would be interested to hear this group in a few years.
