Ted Watson comes to us from the great Northwestern part of the United States. He has released a new project, The Potters Vessel, featuring 7 original songs written by Ted.
The title song kicks off the project and is a very nice ballad. “With All My Heart” is another slow moving ballad featuring Ted’s laid back vocals, followed by “I’ll Stand for Him”.
“Bad Days are Best” is a pretty song done in a waltz. “Mansion over the Hilltop”, the old Gospel classic is the first mid tempo song on the project. “See the Baby” is a country flavored song and is a nice change of pace. He has included one of my favorite hymns, “Blessed Assurance” done in a traditional way.
“More and More” takes us back to a slow ballad and is another of Ted’s original compositions. The old altar call song, “Have Thine Own Way” is a nice addition to the project. He includes the testimony of the writer at the beginning of the song. He closes the project out with “Oh What a Story”.
Ted has a pretty nice voice but his style is really laid back. The project is very slow moving with basically 10 ballads. I found that after a couple of songs, everything started sounding the same. I heard some pitchy places in his upper register. The project could have benefited from at least a couple of up tempo songs to break the monotony.
