Sojourner Quartet has joined forces with producer, Roger Talley, to make a nice recording. They kick the project off with a good toe tapping song, "Get Up, Get Ready". "Just Got to Praise Him" keeps the tempo up and is a good song but the arrangement is a little repetitive in places. "Precious Love of Jesus" is a country styled ballad and is followed by the Hinson classic, "The Lighthouse."
"Happy Time in Heaven" picks the tempo back up and is one of six songs on the project from the pen of Mark Jones. "Just One Hope" is a pretty ballad and features some of the tighter harmony on the project.
The next cut "Where the Light Comes from the Son" is a classic Southern Gospel song and features some good ensemble singing. "Lean on Me" is another pretty ballad. Sheldon Wade Mencer and Steven Cheney have written a great song, "I’m a Whosoever". This song is, in my opinion, the best cut on the CD. They really cut loose and sing on this one and the track is really well done.
The final cut on the album, "Will I See You Over Yonder" is another more traditional quartet song and reminds you of the classic Kingsmen Qt. songs of the past.
Sojourner Quartet does some good singing on this project. I found it a little stiff at times but the potential is definitely there. I would invite you to go to their website and check out Sojourner Qt.
