Sherri Farmer is a wonderful soloist from Evergreen, CO. Her new project, Sowin’ Seeds is jammed packed with some great material from some of the top writers in our industry. There is a lot of variety on the project.

She does a great job on a Rebecca Peck and Amy Marie Unthank’s song, “Lift Up Your Eyes”. This song has a lot of energy and is a great start to the project. “Footloose and Free” has some Manhattan Transfer sounds to it and keeps the tempo up. This song is another great song from Gerald Crabb.

Rebecca Peck has contributed another great song in the ballad, “Broken”. Randy Mobley has written a good up tempo song with some Country flavor to it, “Keep Drinking Water from the Well”. This song is a very commercial song and could do very well for Sherri on Southern Gospel radio.

Sherri has included the great old hymn, “This Is My Father’s World”. This song is done in a simple arrangement, done only with piano accompaniment and background singers. This is a really nice addition to the project. “Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown?” is another old hymn that she has put a Country arrangement on.

“Feet of Clay” is another great Country Gospel ballad written by Sandy Knight. This song fits Sherri’s voice well and is a highlight of the project. “Solitary Place” is beautiful ballad with more of a Pop flair, written by Keena Turner West.

“I Know” is a three quarter time song written by Terry Wilkins and Greg Bentley. This song should be very popular with Sherri Farmer fans. Sherri closes the project out with another Keena Turner West song, “Sowin’ Seeds”. This song is a touching ballad about an elderly, preacher/farmer and the comparison of planting in the field and spreading the Gospel. This is a wonderful song and a nice piece to tie up the project.

It’s good to know that Southern and Country Gospel is not just limited to the South and Mid West but is alive and well out West as well. Sherri is winning fans throughout the industry. This one is worth checking out.
