Independent Release

In a Southern Gospel world that is primarily dominated by male quartets and family groups, it is refreshing to see female groups like Rejoice starting to make a name and a following for themselves.  This recording picks up right where “Shout & Sing” left off and offers a good variety of tempos and musical variances that is sure to please even the most finicky of listeners.  When it’s all over and done with, you’re literally left wanting more.

The jazzy ”GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN“ and the Nancy Harmon classic ”I’M GONNA KEEP ON (TILL HE COMES)“ gets the recording off and running to a galloping pace and features each member of the group, while the majestic ”BREATH OF THE SPIRIT“ slows things down quite a bit as these ladies usher us into unadulterated worship.  By the time the song is over, you don’t know whether to whisper or shout your own “amen.” The pace then picks back up with the upbeat ”LET THE RIVER RUN.”

WHITER THAN SNOW“, featuring Melissa, reminds us that our sins and iniquities have all been washed away by the cleansing power of Calvary’s flow and it all “has been erased in Jesus name and I’m whiter than snow.” After rejoicing in the fact that the blood has redeemed us, ”DAYS OF ELIJAH“ continues that spirit of rejoicing as these ladies challenge us all to “lift your voice, for it’s the year of jubilee.”

Ricky Atkinson wrote a beautiful prayer in song called ”DOUBLE PORTION“ and Rebecca does an excellent job singing this song.  In fine Southern Gospel fashion, these ladies tear into another Ricky Atkinson song called ”ON OUR WAY“.  This highly enjoyable song is a definite highlight of the recording and would probably do well as a radio single.

A song that these ladies have probably lived more than they care to mention is the song ”GOD’S GOT A BETTER PLAN.” What a profound message that though you may have all your plans laid out to the letter, “God’s got a better plan, He’s still in control, not limited by man’s strategies, or locked inside a mold, when it’s a far cry from reality, to the promises of Grace, the truth you must embrace and understand, God’s got a better plan.” There is definitely a sermon in there!

STORY OF MY LIFE“ featuring Sherri, is a clever song that would really make a cool single for the group.  We always hear the expression “That’s the story of my life…” when things go wrong for us, but as this song says, “let me tell you a little story, all about God’s grace and glory, I was blind and could not see, but the good Lord made a change in me, I’ll testify and praise Him, for what He’s done is so amazing, it’s a miracle…I saw the light, that’s the story of my life.” We can rejoice in the fact that He made a change in us and the story of our lives can have a whole new meaning.  As the recording comes to a close with a dramatic reprise of ”DAYS OF ELIJAH“, you’re left with a good feeling knowing you’ve had some time well spent and all your problems you had before listening, don’t seem as big as before.

This recording is like a breath of fresh air.  My only gripe is some of these songs would have sounded so much bigger and better with live orchestrations, but I understand sometimes you just can’t get what you want.  Rejoice has become one of my favorite groups and they have developed a smooth and classy sound that I enjoy immensely.

I haven't heard this release yet, but I'll bet it sounds great with Goss and Talley handling production. These girls have great harmony and they're super nice people too. With Homeland's demise, some major label ought to snatch them up.

Greeting in Christ Jesus Name!
Let me say first that I know these ladys can sing first hand. My name is Michael Hagan & I sing with a male trio called The Hagan Brothers & we were in the first talent contest that Ray Flenn put on at his As For Me and My House We Will Serve The Lord Singing, and lets just that I or we was blown away! Man what harmony! sherri told us that when they heard us sing they said that we ( The Hagan Brothers ) had this contest wone hands down, and they started to leave but they stayed to see how it turned out, ( man I bet there glad they didn't go ) well we said the same thing, that they had it wone hands down, and they did. But it was great to see them win! I told my brothers that I hoped that they did get it or wine it, and man look at them know. These Ladys can sing! they have some of the best harmony of any group out there, when the Lord was handing out talent he froze these girls in place and they got more than most! I compare them to the Rupps, as far as harmony. But best of all out of this contest we became good friends and I am glad to see and here a great project from them. The song that I love the most is Gods Got A Better Plan, this is a great song and they tear it up! Man what harmony!
Keep up the great work ladys and may Gods holy Spirit stay on your group as you do His work
Your Friends: Michael, Wayne & Anthony The Hagan Brothers
