This project kicks off in high gear with "Holy Ghost Revival." In my church this song would have people on their feet shoutin'. "Ready To Go" keeps the energy up. Stacey, the group's male vocalist takes a verse and I was surprised to hear the traditional quartet style vocal in a mixed trio. A female feature on "Still has the power" offers more than just a powerful message. It offers the group's tightest sound so far. I loved the track on this song too.
"Soon Be Gone" has the group showing off their traditional SG roots and doing it well. "Waiting For You" slows things down a bit. The beautiful harmonies and lovely violin made this my favorite cut on the record. Terry McMillan wails on the harmonica on the next cut, "I Go To The Rock." This song always makes me smile, however I'm ready to hear a fresh arrangement of the song. "I hold a Clear Title" didn't do anything for me. The timing seemed a bit off, and the vocal a bit forced, but it's hard to top the Gospel Greats that have mastered this tune.
"Bloodline" message wise, was a great song choice. I heard a lot of emotion in the vocal, however it seriously lacked dynamics. When you sing a line like "Satan you can't cross the bloodline," it should have some power behind it. "Only Gonna Never Die" picks things back up with a nice rendition of this SG favorite. The project ends big with "Death Could Not Hold Him." Again we hear the group's best blend and putting this song at the end defiantly leaves you with a good impression of the group.
Reign Song had very strong messages in their song choices. This tells me that this group is singing for the right reasons. I hope they keep on singing and turning out more songs like "Waiting for You" and "Death Could Not Hold Him." I'll be up for hearing more of that.
