I have always said that Naomi is one of the classiest ladies in Southern Gospel Music. She exudes all things that are lovely and wonderful. Her voice is one of the most recognizable voices in the industry and her living legacy speaks for itself. After nearly 50 years of traveling and singing, one would think she'd slow down, but Naomi has put together a group, consisting of Kasey Kemp and Caleb Cowan, that exceeds several of the aggregations of the Segos from the past.

The recording begins with 3 medium to slow tempo songs, “ALMOST HOME” (the group's current single) , “I'VE BEEN REDEEMED” and “THERE'LL BE JOY” and we don't kick things into high gear until we come to a revived favorite from the early 1980's entitled, “SAIL ON OVER” and an Albert E. Brumley classic, “I'M BOUND FOR THE LAND OF CANAAN”. Both songs showcase some nice guitar work by former Karen Peck & New River guitarist, Joel Key.

Naomi turns in an excellent performance on the jubilant “HE'S ALIVE” before we come to the driving tempo of “THERE IS JOY IN SERVING JESUS”, which is one of the highlight of the recording for me. This song was pretty popular back several years ago when the Kingsmen recorded it in 1976, and it is great to see the Segos revive this long lost song.

Back in the mid to late 1960's, the group popularized a song written by W.R Sego called, “THE JOKE”, and the group of today dusted the song off and breathed new life into it. Though I much prefer the original version, Kasey does well with this classic novelty tune.

Caleb does a great job on “I'LL MAKE IT THROUGH THE STORM” before the recording closes with the popular Kyla Rowland penned tune, “A PLACE TO SPEND THE NIGHT”.

There really aren't any surprises here as the group treads musical territory that is very familiar to them. But this is Naomi, as we've always known her. All through the years, the Segos have never been one to push the envelope musically. To this day, they still have that same old-fashioned campmeeting feel they've always had in their music and that essentially is part of their charm and why I have always loved their music. If you're a fan of the Segos, you'll definitely love this recording.

Personal Favs: SAIL ON OVER; I'M BOUND FOR THE LAND OF CANAAN; HE'S ALIVE; THERE IS JOY IN SERVING JESUS; I'LL MAKE IT THROUGH THE STORM

I love this new CD. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago when the Segos came to my church. They are so entertaining, yet responsive to the Holy Spirit. The message in this CD is exactly what they said it was "ALL ABOUT JOY"

Ms. Naomi has still got it! The boys are great, I hope they stay for a long time. The Joke has to be the most unique and entertaining song I've ever heard...GREAT JOB KASEY! Caleb is a wonderful young singer, I love his voice.

I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves Southern Gospel, and one of it's Living Legends.

I ordered your new cd for my brothers birthday.
He was surely lifted up. He said listening to Naomi helps him get through his hard places in life. See at the age of 21 he was hit by a drunk driver. He is handicapped. Serves the Lord in a out standing ministry with tracts and Bible study.
He said he loves Naomi. And we all say yes we know you do. Naomi is a ministry to him. Thankyou

Naomi is the best. She has the ability to convince her audience that she knows that of which she sings. And the young men with her add a new and exciting dimension.

When I was a child taking piano lessions, my grandmother who was a very good vocalist MADE me accompany her singing. I hated it. (Naomi was her favorite.)

And now what do I do but play southern gospel every chance I get at church, listed to it, and, of course, attend as many Naomi concerts as possible.

Dear Naomi and the Segos,
My family and I love your new CD. You were at our church Sunday night, and we enjoyed it very much. My twin girls love the Joke song, I bet they have listened to it a hundred times already, and they are telling all their friends about it. I am so glad that they want to listen to music like that instead of the worlds music. Thank you! Alicia

I seen Naomi and the Segos in Greenville,SC. With the Gaithers this past october and purchased this new CD. The boys work so well with Ms. Naomi on the stage. I was cheering the loudest when they received their the big standing "O" for their wounderful performance. My Favorite song is the Joke. I am 19 and love the youthful appeal Kasey and Caleb add to this group.

I just want to say how much I enjoy Sister Naomi and the Segos. The first time I heard her was in April 1972. She is still the same great singer that I heard that first night. The CD "There Is Joy" is fantastic. Sister Naomi does a super job at singing "Almost Home", Kasey does a super job doing "The Joke", and Caleb's rendition of "I'll Make It Through the Storm" is terrific also. My prayer is that Kasey and Caleb will spend many years with Sister Naomi. They are two of the finest Christian young men that you could meet. I love Sister Naomi as a friend very, very much. God Bless them all.

My father loves the song "almost home". We have been trying to find the sheet music for him to be able to sing it. Could anyone help me? I have tried all of my local stores and searched online. If possible, please inform me of where I can locate this sheet music. Thank you!
