I know many people have been critical of the Mark Trammell Trio’s past recordings saying they lack spontaneity, variety and more uptempo numbers. Well, it’s finally here “This Time”! I think this is the recording the critics have been waiting to hear and it is no doubt, the best recording these guy have put out since their inception. All I can is, it’s about time!

“WITH GOD AS MY WITNESS” starts things out on an energetic note and is one of those songs you’ll come away with remembering. Things slow down just a bit with a slight country tinged tune entitled, “I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT TODAY”, which is one of my favorite Kyla Rowland tunes and features an excellent performance by Mark Trammell. Things then move on to an upbeat, jazzy tune entitled, “KEEPER OF THE KEYS” which features Eric.

“MORE THAN YOU’LL EVER KNOW”, penned by Rodney Griffin is the first really slow song on the recording and is one of two power ballads included on here. “WHEN MERCY CAME DOWN” written by Dianne Wilkinson is the other. Both songs are very well done and showcase some strong singing by MTT.

The lilting piano throughout the uptempo, “WHEN COMPARED TO GOD” really makes the song for me and is probably my favorite on the recording. It’s one of those that will fly under the radar, but I dare say it will become a favorite of a lot of people. Kicking things up a couple of notches, the group tears into the title song, “THIS TIME”, which has previously been recorded by the Down East Boys.

“WHEN GOD MOVES” has some big band connotations to it and provides a lively moment before things slow down a bit for the acoustical flavored, “IT’S THE BLOOD”. The song features a similar style as their former chart song, “The Love of Christ” and is the only song on this recording that really features Joseph Smith.

Mark and Eric closes things out by singing another one of my favorite Rowland songs, “THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS”.

There is a lot of variety on this recording and that is what makes this latest effort so good. MTT has finally put out something that keeps my attention and there are several single possibilities found on here as well. This recording far exceeds anything they have done in the past. Great job guys!

Personal Favs: WITH GOD AS MY WITNESS; I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT TODAY; WHEN COMPARED TO GOD; THIS TIME; WHEN MERCY CAME DOWN; IT’S THE BLOOD

This is the type of music the Mark Trammell Trio has had the ability to make from day one. I totally understand taking the budget approach initially until things get rolling, though.

I agree with James' 4 1/2 Star rating on _This Time_. Some real creativity went into this project and it shows...it's nice to see Trammell working with producer Steve Mauldin again, BTW. The songwriting is also top notch on this CD.

I first met Mark Trammell in the early '70s when he was singing with his brother Jerry. Mark has always been one of the classiest individuals in our business and quite possibly the best baritone singer of this era.

I am excited to hear this new project because it features two songs by my friend Kevin Womble, Keeper of the Keys and the title song, This Time.
Both are great songs and should do well for the group.

Keep up the good work boys.

Without a doubt the groups best CD thus far! I'm not sure what the first single is but I think "It's Time" and "It's The Blood" would do good on the charts.

Joseph is only featured on the song "It's The Blood", as James said. It's my favorite song on the album. Though I wish they gave Joseph at least one more song the whole CD is awesome. It really showcases Mark's and Eric's great voices...

This Time by the Mark Trammell Trio is an awsome piece of work, however I feel we have only scratched the surface of what remaines to be seen.Just listen to the blend and the energy all at once along with CLASSIC Mark trammell style in the strong message of I Needed to hear that today, only the beginning of what is yet to be heard.
