Karen Peck and New River - For His Glory
It’s hard to imagine that Karen Peck and New River could ever put out a bad CD, and this one will never be referred to as “bad” either, unless they are talking really groovy and say that this is a “bad” CD, when they really mean it’s fantastic. Opening the CD with an upbeat number, “Jump”, this really sets the mood for the remainder of the project. “Jump” is a fun song with an incredible message, relating of how a child trusts their Father to JUMP into their arms with blind faith, and how we need to be willing to JUMP into our Heavenly Father’s arms by faith. This cut should certainly be amongst the radio releases from this CD. “That’s Why They Call It Grace” is one of those ballads that Karen sings so well. It’s nice and slow and Karen is able to put a lot of expression into it. Keeping it a nice song selection, “Get About God’s Business” is another fast tempo song that will do well on radio too. Karen’s sister Susan Jackson is featured on “Jesus Still Sounds The Same”, “It Was Mercy” and “Here Is Where It Starts”. She does a great job on these songs. Newcomer, Jason Jackson, not related to Susan, shows that he can let his hair down and cut a rug on “Look What The Lord Has Done”. Later on the CD, he shows that he can sing a ballad as well as anyone when he pours his heart out on “Inseparable”. This one would be great on radio too. One of my favorites on the CD is “I Can talk About It”. Not only is the song pretty, but the message is so intimate, reaching all of us at some point in our walk with the Lord. Other songs include “The Past”, “All for The Glory Of Christ”, and “God’s Gonna Make A Way”. Production is great, and the quality is superb, so my only difficulty with this CD is that it is just a little predictable. I would like to see Spring Hill stretch Karen and the group just a little. Having said that, this is still a CD Karen Peck and New River fans have to get, and those who have never owned a KP&NR CD will be in for a treat. Reader Comments

I love this CD! I especially like how it showcases a little bit of everyone. I have to say my favorite song is defintely that's why they call it grace. I also am partial to Here is where it starts. I love it when Karen digs down into her lower register because it is just as lovely as the highs! IMHO. 4 stars

I just wanted to say that KP & NR are wonderful! Karen is so sweet and sincere and it's always great to see her and get to talk to her. Jason is a great addition to the group and I think he's doing a wonderful job. Susan is my fave alto singer. Everyone always seems to overlook her awesome talent and she too is a very sweet person. I love the new CD. KP & NR just keep getting better and better. God bless you guys! Love and Prayers!

I love this cd! My fav.'s would have to be "Look What The Lord Has Done," "Inseparable," "Here Is Where It Starts," "I Can Talk About It," and "That's Why They Call It Grace." But like the Martins cd, I could name pretty much every song on there because I love the whole thing. I agree, Jason is an excellent addition to the group. I can't believe how smoothly he blends in with Karen and Susan(who are both sounding better than ever imo) Great great GREAT cd!!
