Gold City - Walk The Talk
After the last CD by Gold City, I wasn’t sure if they could top it or not. I guess I forgot what group I was talking about. Just as I should have expected, Gold City has moved the bar a little higher with this recording. Starting with the opening song, “Somebody Sing Me A Gospel Song” features Jonathan Wilburn, and sets the mood for a time of pure Southern Gospel enjoyment. “That Little Baby” would be a neat song on any Christmas recording, but it fits fine on this recording as the beat moves this song right along. In fact, if you don’t watch it, you’ll be clapping your hands to this one. “Calvary Conquers It All” is reminiscent of a former tune they recorded with a similar title, but it’s still a very dynamic song with a strong message. Jay Parrack is at his best on this type of song. Danny Riley does a great job on “I’m Saved, I’m Sure, I’m Ready”. I think that this cut would do great on radio. The title song of the CD, “Walk The Talk” has a novel title, but the message is ever so true. The track adds a little country flavor to it. “I’ll Say Thanks” is a beautiful and worshipful ballad. Tim Riley gets some nice low note singing done on “I Can’t Do Without The Lord”. The big band track gives this song a nice jazzy feel. While there is not a bad song in the whole CD, my favorite song is the medium tempo cut of “God Is Unwilling”. What a message of encouragement. God is unwilling for us to stay lost. Closing out the CD “God Handled It All” leaves you with a nice traditional sound featuring a little bit of everyone.

This is one of the best GC recordings to come out of the gate in quite awhile. "God Handled it All" is a song I find myself hitting the repeat button again and again on. This is one of those songs that just fills you up from head to toe.
"God is Unwilling" is a remarkable song, and is my other favorite from the CD. I also love "I'll Say Thanks" as well. One of Jonathan's best performances to date. I give it 5 stars!

Great songs. Great production. Great delivery. It rarely gets better than this. I'm giving Gold City one of my rare ratings of 5 stars for _Walk The Talk_.
Deon's ears must have been hallucinating when they failed to report that last half star to his brain! :o)

James and David, you aare exactly right, this CD is great, however, it didn't get the last 1/2 star because I felt that it was predictable. It's the SAME great sound we get from Gold City on every recording. I was looking for something to reach out and grab me. Hey, 4 1/2 stars is STILL an excellent review.

This is the best cd that Gold City has ever had. Every song on the cd is great. I rarely ever listen to a cd that you don't have to hit the skip button but on this cd I don't ever hit it. I do however have to hit the repeat button on "God Handled It All".

I do agree that "God Handled It All" is the best song on the recording. This is a good recording but I don't feel it is the best project that Gold City has ever done. I agree with the 4 1/2 star rating.

Seems to me that it would be difficult to keep topping every recording. It only makes sense that every CD is not going to better than the last one. Sometimes the new recording just isn't a good as the last one, but that doesn't mean that the next one won't be the best they have ever made, or that this CD is a bad one. I agree with the 4 1/2 rating.

I have heard this CD and I like it. For a while I didn't like Gold City too much, because they started getting away from the "original" sound of Southern Gospel. When they came out with Camp Mettin' I was very pleased. I don't know about you guys, but I think quartets are starting to go back to the old songs. It's neat to see that. Anyway, I like the CD, and give it a 4 rating.

I will say this... Gold City is good.. and I noticed that they recorded a song off of another groups cd.. "God Handled it all" was First recorded by " HISSONG" and that song is fit for a trio not a Quartet.... but for Gold City it was a good effort...

This ranks with most of the other Gold City CD's for me. They are one of my absolute favorite groups to listen to, but I seldom find more than 3 songs on a project that I want to hear twice (except to listen to the voices, and there needs to be more to it than that). I could compile a personal favorite cd and listen for hours, but to me their choice of material always seems weak.

I give this CD 5 stars. From "Somebody Sing Me A Gospel Song" to "God Handled It All" it is great, but I don't think it's there best. Anyone remember "Preparing The Way"?..nothing has topped that, but if anyone can it's Gold City!
