After the initial reaction of WOW, there is only one word for this project. Creative!!!! Of course the fantastic harmonies are there, after all, it’s the Booth Brothers. These guys have taken some songs that would be covers for anyone else, and made each song theirs. I know this was supposed to be a table project, but this recording is as good as any label project that I have ever heard.

There are some nice old hymns of the church on this CD that the guys have made fresh and new. “Tell Me The Story Of Jesus” has a little bit of a progressive sound to it, while “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” is just laid back, traditional and worshipful. While listening to “Without The Lord” you are thinking that you could easily be listening to a tune by Jake Hess and the Imperials.

So, now that I think of it, I guess there are two words to describe this recording. Creative is one, and variety is the other. It’s not just the variety of song styles but the variety of the arrangements. Take two songs written by traditional Southern Gospel writers Mosie Lister and John Matthews. “You Are My Song”, written by Lister and “The One That I Love” penned by Matthews could have been sung by any Southern Gospel group, yet the musical tracks bring them up to date stylistically.

The JD Sumner song, “What A Morning,” has that great Bass part that comes on with an Elvis feel, which I’m sure JD would approve of. This is one of my favorite songs on the CD. I will say that you do not think of Jerry Goff at all when you hear this arrangement of “I’ll See You In The Rapture”.

Even though they make some of the arrangements on a couple of the older songs fairly progressive, they take two songs that would probably be considered contemporary and they give them very strong Southern Gospel interpretations. “Crucified With Christ” and “Trust His Heart” are sure to bless you and you can forget that they ever originated in Contemporary Christian music. These two songs will have you sitting back and worshipping in sweet communion with the Lord.

There are twelve great songs on this CD and you will not want to skip any of them as you listen to this CD over and over. This is one Booth Brothers CD that will be a must for every Gospel Music fan.

This new CD is awesome. There is not another group in SG IMO that can pull of the harmonies the BB do on this cd. (hence the name....harmony)

They all nail their songs! Michael sounds clear as always.....Ronnie is smoother than enyone since elvis....and Jim......nice Bb man!

I was wondering though why the reviewer said it is one of the best projects but did not give it 5 stars. Seems to me he should have pointed out whatever it is that made him drop half a star.

Awesome CD.

I agree wholeheartedly, Mark. This CD is awesome! I have most of their recordings and I have to say this is one of the best they've ever put out. The arrangements are incredible. This has to be the best "budget" recording I've come across.

I haven't heard the CD, but I agree with Mark. You don't say who reviewed it, but there was not one "if they had only done this", and you give it 41/2 stars.

ransomed's avatar I have had this cd for a month now and it is a 5 star cd. It is fun, uplifting, and classy all in one. Crucified with Christ is a hit. I tell everyone it is the best arrangement I have heard other than the original. I also love the arrangement on "What a Morning". I also like "Home". Well worth listening to over and over.

I've had this CD since July and each time I listen to it (which is daily - over and over!) I am just in AWE!!! It's the best they have done, so far! Nice job, guys!

I just saw the BB in Rome, GA and they were awesome as usual. "Crucified with Christ" is so moving and powerful! We were on our feet worshiping! The whole album shows the versitility of their talent while maintaining their SG roots.
Ronnie does JD proud on "What a morning" and Michael is awesome on "Trust His Heart".Jim's second verse on "Home" is warm and heartfelt. This CD is a must for all BB Fans!!!!

Deon Unthank's avatar Let me see if I can help you guys out. Mark, A CD can be top quality, yet not a five star recording for several reasons, but if you will notice, I said that this CD was mostly "cover songs". They are cover songs sang with wonderful harmony and feeling, but they are still cover songs, so the song selection itself hinders it from being five stars. Also, though the song performance is great, there is no "The Blind Man Saw It All" big song on this CD, so again, it hinders it from being a five star recording.
Glenn, if you look at the "about the recording" box you will see that my name is listed as the reviewer.
Four and a half stars is and excellent rating, adn takes nothing away from this CD at all. When it comes to reviews, this is a raving review for the CD, so I will stand by it.

We just got back from the Gatlinburg Gathering and got to see the BB for the second time since Family Fest where they sang(both times) "Look For Me At the Feet of Jesus" and it was terrific both times! Not to mention they also sang "He Saw it All". I could listen to both those over and over. What a performance that was this past weekend. They really outdid themselves...once again. If one of the other or both of those songs don't stir you up-your comotose!

What can you say about these guys? They could sing the phone book. This as all of their stuff is great. Thank God they decided to sing gospel so we could all be blessed.

Amen to that! Absolutely great for my ears. The "old" Gaither Vocal Band (Bill, Guy, Mark, and David) never sounded better and BTW-that's the best Bill will ever have.
