After listening to this CD, it makes you wonder why Bill Gaither waited so long to record a solo project. While you might think that a Bill Gaither recording would consist of all Bill and Gloria Gaither songs, this CD has a great selection of songs including three written by Stuart Hamblen, two by Bill and Gloria's daughter, Susan Jennings, and of course those written by Bill and Gloria themselves.
In the tradition of Bill Gaither's music, the message is predominate. The very first song "But For The Grace Of God" is a great example of this, as are "I Believe, Help Thou My Unbelief", and "The Longer I Serve Him".
It seems to me that Bill has always had in inkling to include a song that is uplifting to the individual and the families listening to the CD. "I Wish You" does that in what he wishes for your life. "Tho Autumn's Coming On" describes the lovely life of an aging couple. It causes you to take time and reflect on your life.
"You Might Forget The Singer (But You Won't Forget The Song)" is the closest thing to an upbeat song. That would be my only complaint with this CD, in that it is all slow to medium songs with only one relatively fast song.
All in all, if you like the music of Bill and Gloria Gaither, you are going to love this CD, after all, Bill is all about the song.
