Crabb Family

The Crabb Family . . . It all began less than 10 years ago with a dream....a dream in the prayer of a father that his family would make an impact for Christ and a desire to instill within them the values that he so strongly upheld???.a dream in the heart of a mother who quickly recognized the talents of her children and wanted to see them use those talents to the best of their abilities to make a difference....a dream in the hearts of six children to share the gospel with a lost and hurting world.

A lot has happened in those ten years. A lot has happened since 2003.

  • A Dove Award
  • Mike Bowling's #1 Song
  • Billboard Magazine
  • Guests on Grand Ole Opry
  • James Robison Life Today appearance
  • Favorite Band during 2003 Singing News Fan Awards
  • New Baby for the Bowlings
  • Grammy Nomination
  • Named in "25 most important artists shaping Christian music today" by CCM magazine
  • TBN Appearances and upcoming Weekly Program
  • Performance of the National Anthem at UK vs UT Basketball Game
  • SoGospelNews Music Award Winners
  • and More Dove Award Nominations
  • and More SoGospelNews Music Award Nominations
  • Someone recently described Crabb Family music as the "New Alternative Music." From this description a new focus and vision was birthed, "Leave No One Behind". Their goal is to reach as many new faces as they can with their music, yet at the same time never leaving the current fan base that they have. If they can bring new faces into the realm of Gospel Music, then they have the opportunity to introduce new faces and new fans to all of our beloved standards of Southern Gospel Music such as Gold City, Signature Sound Quartet, The Hoppers, The Wilburns, The Hoskins Family or LordSong. "Leave No One Behind" embraces their roots and love of Southern Gospel Music while impacting the masses and spreading the gospel through their music.

CrabbFest 2004Perhaps the biggest empact they will make during the coming year will be during their famous, annual, CrabbFest. Put on your seatbelt and hold on for five of the most exciting nights to ever hit Owensboro, KY. The date for 2004's CrabbFest is set for July 7 ? 11, 2004. The place is the Owensboro Sports Center. Did I say five exciting nights? The nights aren't the only thing exciting about this event. There will be plenty of things to do in the daytime too!

While speaking to Kathy Crabb about this annual event you can't help but feel the excitement she feels for this event. It is very apparent that they enjoy this event as much as the fans and work diligently to make each year better than the last.

VIP Meet and GreetThis year's event starts on Wednesday afternoon with a VIP Meet and Greet at the park adjacent to the Owensboro Sports Center. This event alone has proven to be a favorite of the fans. Wednesday evening's opening concert will feature The Crabb Family, Gerald Crabb, Mike Bowling, Mark Lowry, LordSong, The Dunaways, and Aaron Wilburn.

Thursday morning begins with a worship service at 11:30AM, followed by a Showcase with Dottie Rambo and Friends. Of course this is all highlighted by a powerful concert featuring The Crabb Family, Mike Bowling, The Hoppers, The Carolina Boys, Aaron Wilburn, The McRaes and Gerald Crabb.

The Crabb ClanThere will be no time to settle down, because Friday morning begins early with an 8:30 AM Morning Prayer Breakfast before another worship service followed by a ?Surprise Showcase? in the afternoon. By this time you will probably realize why Kathy Crabb calls this event a "Youthful NQC with a Gospel Rowdy Crowd." But rest assured all age groups love this Family and feel a part of each of their services. The crowd will be all geared up for the fantastic evening concert where they will see Michael English, The Crabb Family, Karen Peck and New River, Gold City, Mike Bowling, The Hoskins Family, Gerald Crabb, and Aaron Wilburn.

Just about the time you think you have caught your breath, you will find out that there is a Pajama Party after the concert Friday night. Pajamas are required if you want to be the one having the most fun. Even though Saturday is the final day, it is still jam packed with things to do.

Gerald and Kathy are determined to help in the development and education of new talent. Starting at 8 AM Saturday, there will be a Talent Search judged by industry leaders who have helped find and place talent for groups through previous Crabb Talent Searches. Not a singer? Then look for either a Songwriters Daycamp with Gerald Crabb and Aaron Wilburn, two great songwriters, which be held from 10 AM Until 2 PM. Or check out the New Artist Seminar at both 10 AM and 2 PM. The theme of the seminar is ?I Want To Song, Now What Do I Do?? The Seminar will be a panel of industry people who can help answer the questions of new and struggling artists. This is a "no miss" event. There is also a Worship service to be held at 11:30 AM. Entering the afternoon, you can find more fun at the annual Crabb Karaoke at 2:30 PM. If all that isn?t enough there is still the huge concert in the evening with such great artists as Mike Bowling, The Crabb Family, The Gospel Enforcers, The Isaacs, The Dove Brothers, The Talley Trio, Aaron Wilburn, Gerald Crabb, and The Freemans.

The CrabbFest CrowdYou might think that all of the celebration is over, however on Sunday morning there will be another wonderful worship service, and on the conclusion of this service, everyone will make their way back to their homes basking in the blessings that they received that week.

I do not think that this is something you will want to miss. The building only holds 5,000 people, so make sure you get your tickets now. So this is a personal invitation from Gerald and Kathy Crabb, Mike Bowling, and the entire Crabb Family clan. Hey, you?ll even see me there snapping some pictures.
