For 13 years I have stood on stages all across America and Canada and sung the gospel. I have never wanted to do anything else, and God has seen fit to allow me to live out my dream. My years with the Kingsmen and now with the Carolina Boys Quartet have been both trying and rewarding, however the time has come to move on to a new chapter of my life.

Many don't know that my wife and I lost our first child earlier this year due to miscarriage. As a result, she had to undergo emergency surgery which could potentially prevent us from having children. She and I both have been dealing with the emotional loss of this little one, and thru it all she has been a real trooper. She admits having bouts of depression over this, which has made it increasingly hard to leave home each week. Recently, she had a doctor's appointment to determine whether we can still have children, but due to my road schedule I was unable to attend the procedure with her. This bothered me deeply and made me realize that the time has come to be a husband first. After the prayers of our families and close friends, her tests came back positive, indicating we are able to conceive.

We feel that God has answered this prayer for us to be able to have children, and also feel it is God's way of saying it's time to be at home. The rigors of the road have taken their toll on me physically, mentally, and spiritually, and I don't mind telling you, I'm tired! Couple the trauma that Paula and I were dealt earlier this year with the demands of running a group, and you can perhaps understand my exhaustion.

I know you will be asking, "what will you be doing now?" I can honestly say, "I have no idea!" But in September, 2001, I saw the Lord work wonderful miracles in our lives when the picture looked bleakest. I had no idea what I would do upon the retirement of the Kingsmen name. The Lord worked all that out, and I have no doubt He will take care of us now.

Ray Reese and the rest of the Carolina Boys Quartet have been fantastic to understand our decision. I encourage you to continue to support them in all their endeavors, as I know I will be.

Blessings On You!
Parker Jonathan

Parker,
I am diabled,but GOD has been good.My
prayer list is what i am able to do now.
You and your wife will be lifted up daily.
We are told to pray for one another w/o
ceasing:to rejoice and weep with one
another. Please tell your wife she gave up
her husband so GOD could minister to us:
it is only fair we give you back to her, till
sometime in HIS future will.God bless:)

I know this is a blow to all the Kingsmen?Carolina Boys fans. But his reasoning is certainly understandable. I have to applaud him on writing one of the most open, "Open Letters" I've ever seen. I pray God's blessings on Parker and his family.

Life will go on for the Carolina Boys. Shoot, I remember a day when I couldn't imagine the Kingsmen without Jim Hammil. LOL!!

Blessings,

Bob

We will miss you but look forward to your return to the stage. God bless you and your wife as you enter this phase of your lives together. Children are truly a blessing from God and I pray that you will know that first hand. Keep following His leading.

Thank you Parker for reminding all of us that God's priorities matter. I know that the Lord will continue to use you in a mighty way as you remain open to His leading. I thank God for the blessing you have been to me and to so many others through the music He has given us through you. And I pray that you and your wife will find comfort in knowing you are living in His wonderful will. I am confidant that "whatever you do," you will "work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Col. 3:23

To Parker and Paula,
God Bless you both, I know what you've been through as I've been throught it many years ago... My heart and prayers go out to both of you...
Parker I've seen you holding babies, and I know you'll make a great daddy.
Our loss is Paula's gain , and that is how it should be...
You were my favorite Kingsmen/Carolina guy, as I've talked several times to you...God works in many ways...
Remember "You're Never Alone"
I'll miss you, but I have videos, CD'S and the Sky Angel, so I'll always be able to see and hear you in my home...
God Bless ...

I applaud your decision to come off the road to be with your wife. My husband and I suffered a devestating miscarriage early last year after trying for a while. Thanks to God and a doctor's wisdom, we were blessed with a little girl in time to celebrate the New Year. She is truly God's gift to us!!! We know God has the same in store for you.
