Cleon Yates Leaves The Men of Music
Dear Deon,
I have recently released an article, in a national gospel music publication, concerning my retirement from the Men of Music. Considering the possibility that you may not subscribe to that particular magazine, I wanted to write you directly and explain why I was forced to make this unfortunate choice.
As you may know I formed The Men of Music in 1995 and have seen my life’s dream come true. I have been blessed with the wonderful thrill of singing Southern Gospel Music with some of the most talented and respected people in our industry. God has been good.
Early this year I began having voice problems, usually sore throat or just plain hoarseness. I visited a renowned voice doctor in Houston and was treated for a mild case of Acid Reflux. Relief was fast-coming and I was able to sing in just a few days. Hoarseness, however, continues to plague me and we were forced to cancel all dates this past month. I have now been advised to stop singing entirely while the problem is addressed.
Mike Bullock, bass singer for The Men of Music, has requested that he be allowed to continue the group and I have agreed. Through a legal transaction Mike has acquired all rights, responsibilities, assets, and benefits of and to the Men of Music.
I thank you for your support and interest in the “Men”, and I pray that somehow, through our music ministry, you have been blessed. Please support Mike now as he carries on our singing tradition and pray for us, here at home, as we deal with our health difficulty.
You may publish this information if you wish.
May God bless,
Cleon R. Yates
