Radio Picks - posted @1:56 pm

Palmetto State Quartet - "There’s Something Going On"

Penned by Tenor Brion Carter, this cut moves right along with a driving force. You listeners will be singing along with this song. Not only is it a very pretty song, but the message is unique. I think that you will get requests for this one. Crossroads Airplay Sampler - October 2002 - cut # 5

Nelons - "He Rolled Back The Stone"

This is another great Nelon song that is reminiscent of the old Nelons. It has a dynamic message, and both Jason and Kelly express this song with
strong feeling. This could be the first Nelon song to go number one in a while, but it certainly has the potential to do so. Sonrise Christian Voices - October 2002 - cut # 11

Allens - "Back To The Cross"

Here is my "sleeper of the week". This young family group has some really tight harmony. Add that close harmony to a really good Rodney Griffin song, and I think that you could have a hit. The group expression is very good, and the track flows without being overpowering. Songs For The Journey - Volume # 8 - cut # 7

Gaither Vocal Band - "I’m Gonna Sing"

As you would expect, coming from the GVB, this is an extraordinary cut. The track is extra clean, and the vocals very tight. The toes of your listeners will be tapping as they listen to this cut, which has a very
viable message for the day and time that we are living in. You can’t go wrong spinning this one. Heritage Gold - Volume 32 - cut # 3

The Trio - "In Just A Little While"

This lively number will get the toes to tapping. Close harmony and a nice beat keep this song flowing. The message is that of looking forward to the blessings of heaven. Lots of neat little unison spots add some
uniqueness to the arrangement. Crossroads Airplay Sampler - September 2002 - cut # 3

Salem Ridge Quartet - "The Road Keeps Getting Shorter"

Here’s
my "sleeper of the week". These guys have a pretty traditional sound, but the song itself is different enough that I think your listeners may really like it. The tempo is medium, but you will pat your foot to it. The message is true, the road does keep getting shorter to our eternal
home. Lamon Records - Volume # 1 - cut # 6

Todd Nelon Quartet - "I’m Gonna Keep Praising Jesus"

What a classic sound this fairly new quartet has on this song. The track isn’t cluttered with a bunch of instruments, just the basic piano, drums and Bass, but it really matches the song they were after. This is some just good ole close Southern Gospel harmony, with an uplifting message. Give this one a chance, I think that you audience will thank you for it. Lamp Music Group - Special NQC 2002 Sampler - cut #

Hoskins Family - "Written In Heaven"

This song has top ten written all over it. It slow the pace down a bit, but he message is strong, and of course Angie can really interpret a song. The soft strings on the track are really nice. The message is one of
rejoicing. Daywind Records - Disc # 45 - cut # 2

By Faith - "Brand New Vision"

I thought that I would start with my "sleeper of the week". This mixed trio has a very bright sound, full of energy. Your audience will have their hands clapping in the first couple of measures on this cut. Give it a close listen, I’ll think you will agree it deserves some airtime. Lamp Music NQC Sampler -2002- cut # 14

Safe Harbor - "Everyday"

This tune starts off with some nifty licks on the track, and then kicks off with some pretty good Bass feature. The song moves right along, although it’s not really an up-tempo song. This song could just see some pretty good chart action. Eddie Crook Company - Radio Disc Volume 802 - cut # 3

Randy Travis - "Rise And Shine"

Though Rand Travis is well known for being a Country singer, he has been spending a lot of time lately singing in churches and doing Gospel concerts. If this is any indication of what his concerts sound like, then he needs to be heard on radio too. Give this cut a listen, you may just agree with me. Heritage Gold - Volume # 32 - cut # 1

Anchormen - "Even Then"

Penned by Vickie Arnold, this moving Ballad is expressed with such feeling that you have to stop what you are doing and listen to the words of this song. Steve Ladd does a great job on the feature making it a very worshipful song. When you have that time in your program, when you need to slow the pace down a bit give this song a spin. DJ Man Hit Singles - Volume IV - October 2002 - cut # 1

I use to really love the Hoskins Family. However, I think they have changed so much. They use to be so spiritual. It seems they have lost that. They will never make it in southern gospel music unless they get back to the spirituality. They bought a brand new bus and I feel this has gone to there head. I pray that they will get back to where they were.

They use to be totally ministry.

How tacky!!!
Because someone buys a bus they can't be spiritual? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I have seen the Hoskins Family since they bought their bus and nothing has changed. If anything they just keep getting better and better.

Oh, and by the way, what kind of car do you drive? I hope it is a spiritual one!

Paul,

It seems that you totally misunderstood the person that sent the e-mail about the Hoskins family. You need to READ. I agree with with the person. I saw them at NQC and they didn`t go over at all. Whenever you get to the point where all it is is concentrating on which side of the stage to walk and what hand motions to make, that`s getting a little too much. They seem they have totally lost there focus. I use to be the biggest fan of the Hoskins family but there attitudes have changed as. They use to let the spirit move on stage with them. Unless they get there spiritualism back, they want last. Again I totally understood what the person was saying, maybe you need to read instead of lashing back because you maybe dont care for spiritualism.

Maybe you need to re-read. If you can make a decision on a person's spirituality based upon hand motions, walking on or off stage at the NQC or having a bus, then you might need to get a new Bible or find a new church. How ridiculous to think that people will make judgements on someone's spirituality based upon the above.

I saw them at the NQC and to say they didn't go over is inaccurate and very misleading. If you don't care for them, fine, express that, but don't spritualize them or yourselves because of your own personal preferences.

Again, How tacky!!!

This is almost too funny. I must admit I agree with Paul on this. Why not keep the nasty comments to yourself?

Go Hoskins Family!
