I’ve Got Answers
![]() Last month I had questions. This month I’ve got answers. Reader Comments
Nick- Lets be honest. Your entire company is driven towards the newbies. I would much rather give a promoter or label my money and see myself in the charts, than give it to you, hear your rantless campaigns and still have nothing. I am not being rude. But, you have hammered at this stuff for years, and I have yet to see you or any of your companies rise up to be counted.I would like to hear your track record in bringing these new artist to something better that the industry has offered? I know you have said Booth Brothers in the past-Thats the Gaither train driving that. But, I am speaking of the newbies as you call them. The ones you are trying to drag into your campaign to produce and market. If you didnt have an agenda here- I might listen to you and understand more. But, you blast everyone else for doing what you are doing or cant do.I have seen plenty of groups come in and out of this radio station with the goods. The ones using the big 3 labels and promoters are the only ones doing anything.I know you have a handful of folks that comment on here and scream for change. But, 10 people might over throw a meeting, they cannot over throw an industry.

Dale - Let's be honest - YOU ARE THE ONE WITH THE AGENDA. Who put you up to writing such a mean-spirited post?? And on a website dedicated to music that is dedicated to spreading the Gospel??
Evidently, some of your "close friends" have toes that Nick is stepping on. I can say for sure, as I don't know you, thank God. But I DO KNOW NICK and I KNOW HIM to be a man of high integrity. I don't know much about you. #1 - HIS AGENDA SEEMS to be pretty clearly stated - he wants to keep new artists from being sold a bill a goods. Does he hide the fact that he does custom recording? QUITE THE CONTRARY - He openly states it. HIS POINT - He doens't sell them useless things like radio promotion and sales gimmicks that they don't need. #2- I dont' really think anyone needs to go over Nick's "credentials". (Do the names The Kingsmen,The Stamps ring a bell?) #3- Let me remind you that the Booth Brothers were introdcued to Bill Gaither throught the recordings that Nick Bruno produced for them. NO one doubts that the Homecoming exposure got them where they are... but... please.. give the man credit where it is due him. #4 - I have read his articles every month. I don't recall him EVER SAYING "If you'll let ME record your project, You'll be a success!".. So who is he, according to you, trying to drag in to his campaign to produce and market??? You're delusional.. #5- Recently, the Singing News changed it's chart format. Hmmmmm.... Isn't that something Nick has been advocating for years? HmmmmM.. I think that's going to affect more than 10 people. #6- What big THREE LABELS are you referring to? Are you personally friends with someon who owns a record label that Nick's honesty is taking business from? #7- Who is he blasting? I wonder why when a man tells the consumers (the newbies) what is REALLY going on with some of these record labels.. why you refer to him as "blasting". This is the kind of petty backstabbing that keeps SGM from being what it's supposed to be. I'm done. But not until I find the trail that leads me back to the person who put you up to writing that email. I wonder who's paying you a nice piece of change to attack someone who is simply being honest? You should apolgize. You

I'd have to say that I agree with Robert.
I read this column every month, and it seems that all Nick is trying to say is that some recording companies promise things to new artists that they cannot deliver. I also agree with Robert in that Nick doesn't hide the fact that he is a producer. But I also don't recall Nick trying to GET BUSINESS from this column, but rather trying to keep the business end of Southern Gospel honest. Lastly, Dale, I agree with Robert that your post was persona and hurtful, and rather than lowering my opinion of Nick, it has lowered my opinion of you. I think an apology is in order. Your post was way out of line and very unChristian.

Dale.. Dale..
I found the trail! All one needs to do is go to this website's "search" tool, type in your name -Dale Embry- and Lo! and Behold!ALL your posts come up. And after looking at just one or two posts...there seems to be a pattern to WHO you talk all the time. It's VERY OBVIOUS which radio promoter is your buddy.. You continually take the time to be sure that "SO and SO" (your friend?)gets credit for a song's success. It's ALSO VERY OBVIOUS since you took the time to meanly attack Nick in a personal way - that NICK'S column is educating many of the newbies in SGM - the ones he is trying to protect - and it's also obvious that it's hurting your friend's radio promotion business. Knowledge is power.. and the artists now know - thanks to Nick and honest people like him- what kind of radio promotion to avoid. Evidently, it's working. Nick Bruno is a personal friend. You're the one with the dishonest agenda, Dale. Shame on you. You're exposed.

I don't want to get caught in the crossfire here.
But I believe that Mr. Dale is missing the point. I don't believe Nick is "blasting" any artists. He is trying to keep them from being scammed. I believe that Nick is trying to tell new artists that paying money to get on a worthless chart is wasting money. Or that paying money for your song to play on a radio station thousands of miles from your small area of ministry is wasting money. I guess a better question might be: Where will the artists who are on those charts and radio stations that Mr. Dale is so fond of be five years from now? Or even sooner if their money for radio promotion runs out? Isn't he simply stating that focusing on the quality of singing, the quality of songs, and growing a career wisely and methodically is the way to success? I believe he is saying that. Therefore, he may not have a long list of people who are on a chart somewhere today and gone tomorrow. Why would he want to?

Thank you Nick, at last someone is willing to help us newbies, I know from my exprences when I ask a sessioned artist, they are too busy to help or give any inportant iformation. I ask someone who was very knowlegeable about publishing, they would not tell me anything and said they didn't know. But guess what they now want me to publish with them instead of giving me information for me to do my own publishing. It's Like I run in to aduitudeds from fellow artist that are well astablished in the busness. Thank you Nick for some intrest in help us Independent labels.

I don't under stand how some groups can have so many #1
and they hardly can draw a picture,I heard a CD of a group that is better than 80% of the Cd's that are being put out there in SG music today but DJs want play it because "THEY ARE A LOCAL GROUP" but they are all over the USA (Mid west to the East coast) I think most try to stay as local as they can because mostly fuel prices. People keep saying to put out the best CD...and they record at a great CD with a great studio,Eng, Players and the best writers out there and they put there heart and soul into every song. What is going on in SG music... this is just WRONG. I'm not talking about one Group... I'm just talking about the "SG" system. YOU GO NICK!!!!! because Im getting sick of all the #### that is going on in SG music
