The SGPA was very busy during NQC with several meetings and showcases. We also had a very productive business meeting where it was announced that membership was growing faster than at anytime during its history. New figures showed that promoters are now losing less money on their concerts. It looks like, after several years of severe losses in which many promoters were forced to totally stop promoting, we are turning the corner.
We are going to see some changes, for example - concerts with no more than two major artists. And do not be surprised if you see an increase in ticket prices. The cost of promoting a concert is higher than ever. Artists are charging more because their expenses continue to rise. Advertising costs are soaring. Insurance and venue rentals are at an all time high. So, the promoters have no choice but to pass this on.
But, after all, we are presenting the best music in the world. Believe me when I tell you that the promoters are doing everything possible to continue to bring good gospel music to you as reasonable as possible. What we ask in return is that you, the fan, turn out every time a good concert comes near your area. And, why not bring a friend? We look forward to seeing each of you.
God bless,
Jim Hefner
