Naomi Sego is one of the most respected names in Southern Gospel Music. Her longevity and reputation speaks volumes for her as a singer and as a classy individual. Naturally, after being an integral part of the history of Southern Gospel Music, it'd be only fitting to take a look back at the past, which is exactly what the group has done with this recording; they have gone back, using previously recorded tracks and added the vocals of today's group (Naomi with Kasey Kemp and Caleb Cowan), and have made each song uniquely their own.

The recording starts off with an old Sego classic penned by W.R. Sego entitled, "HE WASHED MY SOUL" and moves on to a more recent classic for Naomi, "I WENT DOWN A BEGGAR".

The group originally recorded "ANGELS CAMPING ALL AROUND ME" back in the mid 1970s and the current group does a great job reviving this uptempo tune.

Gerald Crabb penned, "A SINNERS PRAYER" and Caleb does a good job renewing this tune from a few years ago before Naomi steps up to sing a classic from the 1960s entitled, "I AM HIS, HE IS MINE". The group tears into the campmeeting classic, "SILVER AND GOLD" before slowing things down a bit for the Jerry Goff penned classic from the 1970s, "PLEASE SEARCH THE BOOK AGAIN".

Recorded several times over the years by Naomi, "BORN TO SERVE THE LORD" continues to echo the sentiments of her heart before things move on to the bouncy little ditty called, "THERE'S GONNA BE SHOUTING".

"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?", penned by W.R. Sego, has always remained one of my all-time favorite Sego tunes and it was great seeing this old timey sounding song revived before the recording closes out with yet another classic, "HE'LL HOLD TO MY HAND".

While it seems the group has recorded, and in some cases re-recorded, most of these songs on previous recordings over the past 5 years, these are current vocal renditions of old favorites. The many fans (like myself) that enjoy the campmeeting feel in the music of Naomi & The Segos will thoroughly enjoy this recording.

Personal Favs: HE WASHED MY SOUL; I WENT DOWN A BEGGAR; ANGELS CAMPING ALL AROUND ME; A SINNERS PRAYER; WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

I have really enjoyed my copy of "Looking Back". What a great project! My personal favorites are "Silver and Gold" and "A Sinner's Prayer". I have been blessed numerous times by this project as well as countless other Sego songs. Sister Naomi is such a precious lady and truly one of Gospel music's living legends. Kasey and Caleb are so nice and their love for the LORD and Sister Naomi is evident in all they do. What more can I say? A great group, a great project!! Praise the LORD for Naomi & the Segos!

I like the sound of these three vocals together. One of my favorite songs on this CD is "Born To Serve The Lord". I truly believe that Naomi means everyword of this song. My prayer is that God will continue to bless Naomi as he has over her career in gospel music.
