Dove Brothers - At A Glance

2005 was a big year for the Dove Brothers Quartet - both personally and professionally. Share a little bit about your year.

This year, we have seen many lives change through the songs that we sing. From the new songs to the old songs. We have seen more young people this year, and that is a good thing.

Your newest recording - Anything But Ordinary...Everything But Typical - has received rave reviews across the board and seems to be doing extremely well for the group. Explain why you took a departure from the sound that made the Dove Brothers Quartet so popular, and how has the new sound affected the ministry of the group?

We felt that the Dove Brothers needed to start recording new songs that folks would know us by and not artists in the past. We also wanted to keep doing what brought us to the dance so to speak. We never want to leave the roots of our music, but we also want to make our own sound and style and path. But most of all, we want to do God's will.

The song, "Anything But Ordinary, Everything But Typical" seems to be eating up the airwaves - including going #1 on SoGospelNews.com for three weeks. What's up next for radio listeners? Why did you choose this particular song?

"Just Imagine That" will be the next single to radio. This song is even more different than anything you have heard from DBQ. We did a poll on our website, and the fans picked this song to be the next single.

Lance (your new baritone) seems to be fitting in great. How has this experience changed him? How has the dynamic of the group changed since his arrival?

Lance has been great for the group. He has brought more of a today sound to the group at times. However, the sound hasn't change much at all. We are still able to do anything that we have done in the past. Lance said that singing the old quartet songs are harder to do and takes more time and practice that the new stuff. I feel that the reason for that is he has never heard of the Statesmen or the Blackwoods until he joined the group. We thank God for Lance. We see him growing each day!!!

So what's up next for the group? What are your immediate future plans for your ministry?

I know this sounds like just an answer that has been used a lot but this is how we feel. We want to do what the Lord would have us to do. From songs to dates and the way we sing the songs and present the songs as well.

What has God been teaching you lately?

God has been teaching us to wait. To wait on him to be more careful on our decisions that we make and, I am still working on the waiting part.

Just wanted to put my two cents worth in. Love your station....My wife and I keep our radio's tuned to 102.7 in our home, and in our vehicles. I just don't listen to anything else. When I travel highway 59 to Houston, I can pick you up just north of Cleveland. When I come up thru highway 96, I pick you up just north of Lumberton....and listen all the way home to Broaddus, Texas.
Thank God for this station.....Every where I go, I tell people that love Southern Gospel Music, about your station....It just means a lot to me to be able to listen to your station....God Bless....and Keep it up guys.....you're a blessing to all of us old country people.
