Track 7, though unusual in name, really has a neat sound.  Though featuring a slight country style, at times they display a polished Southern Gospel quartet sound; it depends on the song they are singing at the time.  Overall though, they do seem to lean more towards the country end of the Southern Gospel spectrum.

The leadoff song, ”EVERYTHING’S GONNA BE ALRIGHT”, definitely has a strong country flavor, while my favorite hymn, ”GOD LEADS US ALONG”, follows an easy going pace featuring mandolins and acoustic guitars.  ”TROUBLESOME WATERS” follows suit and has become a favorite of mine.

In honor of those who fight for our country, the guys sing ”HEROES” and turn in a very good performance on this power ballad.  In contrast, sung to the tune of the upbeat “I’m on my Way to Canaanland”, the guys sing the story of ”JOB”.

The Mosie Lister classic, ”HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT” gets a good treatment here and the polished, quartet sound this group possesses comes through.  The guys also do an excellent job on an older Oak Ridge Boys song from the early 70s entitled ”HOMEWARD BOUND”.

HIGHER GROUND” is a fun quartet sounding song and is a highlight of the recording; while ”STAY NEAR TO ME” slows things down a bit, and offers a simple prayer in song, “through smiles and sorrows, Lord stay near to me.”

As a remarkable closing, ”I JOHN 3:2” written by Lari Goss, brings to music the scripture found in I John 3:2, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

Track 7 has a very good vocal blend.  There are no vocal stars within this group; they work as a collective effort.  In some ways, the group makes me think of the Oak Ridge Boys, but with a little less power.  I like their sound, as their sound is very easy to listen to and enjoy.  I look forward to hearing more from these guys, though I am still trying to figure out what their name means.

Personal Favs: EVERYTHING’S GONNA BE ALRIGHT; GOD LEADS US ALONG; TROUBLESOME WATERS; HIGHER GROUND; I JOHN 3:2

Thanks for the review. We are having fun singing. Thanks for listening and caring enough to give your feedback and words of encouragement. BTW...the name "Track 7" is a reference to the number 7 in the bible as the
number for "completion" or "perfection". Jesus is the only one who was
"perfect & complete" but we who are believers are on that "Track" towards completion
in Christ. Abstract thought for your typical SG group. We didn't want the
"typical" name. At least it creates discussion...and that is a good thing.
Thanks
