Time Flies and Memories Linger!
Hey Everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR!...WOW... I cannot believe it is already 2006...How time flies...but how wonderful that precious memories linger.
This week, my mom came in to spend Christmas with us. It is so funny...She and I would talk about this and talk about that and in the midst of the conversation...we would both realize that we weren't getting any younger. We were doing alot of remembering this week...Technology came up...Gotta Love technology...! We talked about remembering when there was no such thing as a cell phone...OH HOW DID WE EVER SURVIVE...Then she and her friend began to talk about the arrival of percolating coffee makers and I felt better because I don't think I am quite old enough to remember that event...LOL! Through all of our conversations, one thing really stood out to me...Precious Memories! Of all that has happened and with all the time that has flown by, nothing seemed more important than memories of the joyful times...the funny times...the precious times. My mom describes me at the age of two tossing my baby bottle out the car window in spite of the fact that she promised I would never get another one...It seemed I was ready it give it up...(I guess so at two years old, but remember I don't think we had sippy cups back then...Now we have sippy cups with no drip, temperature regulated, volume monitored computer modules...LOL). I talked about anticipating the birth of our first little baby ( Jessica) and the whole picture I had in my head of the events of each day and how different it all turned out to be...yet how WONDERFUL too! That was the phase of life when I discovered infomercials...They are aired frequently in the wee hours of the night!
I love how Eddie had everyone send in memories. I think after he lost the initial batch we got most of them back...I loved reading the memories many of you have. It becomes evident that those are what shape our lives in so many ways. We need those times to help us to remember what is really important. Let's commit this year to make everyday memorable for those around us...and let's strive to make those memories precious. Let's love our family and friends and the people God places in our path more as a VERB than as a general feeling. The feeling of love is wonderful, but the action of love is priceless. Christmas helps us to remember the greatest act of LOVE ever...The day JESUS came to earth just for US... for our very LIFE. I am sure the Father remembers back to that day even knowing what was ahead for HIS Son and how it was ALL for our good...because HE LOVES us SO VERY MUCH! I am so thankful for that. Paul and I were saved just before Christmas 23 years ago...YES! before their was such a thing as Cell Phones...LOL! But we did use the dial-up wall telephone to share the great news!
Let's share some GREAT NEWS with others this year and create some memories that will last not just a lifetime, but an eternity! I love this quote from Dale Evans, "Every time we love, Every time we give...It's CHRISTMAS!" Let's have Christmas all year because of John 3:16... For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
