Gina Vera - Is it Any Wonder?
Gina Vera’s songs have been recorded by many groups in the Southern Gospel community such as the Hoskins Family, Smith, White & Fairchild, Perrys, Wilburns, Booth Brothers, Ruppes, Brian Free & Assurance, Heirline and countless others. Gina Vera is one of my favorite songwriters. Her songs seem to reach deep inside your heart and just grab hold of it. On top of that, her singing is superb. Gina has a certain “soul” quality about her voice, but at the same time, shows such emotion and has a very warm and tender quality to it as well. She has the rare ability to make you believe what she is singing about; which in my opinion is the highest compliment a singer can be given. The opening song, ”GREAT THINGS“, really shows the “soul” in Gina’s voice, as do the songs ”I SING“, ”YOU DON’T EVEN WANT TO MAKE ME PRAY“, ”YOU CAN’T TAKE MY CROWN“ and ”ALRIGHT“. While songs like ”WHAT ABOUT HIS GRACE“, ”IN ME“, ”IS IT ANY WONDER?“ ”HE WILL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU“ and ”HE’S NOT A BURDEN“ all show the more delicate side of her voice. Last year, Gina’s song ”MARY KNEW“, as recorded by Brian Free and Assurance, was nominated for Song of the Year. Gina delivers a very heartfelt rendition of the song on this recording. ”I SEE YOU THAT WAY“ is a song that touches me the most and is my favorite on the recording. With this song, you are reminded that God Himself loves us more than words can say and looks upon us with Holy eyes of love. If you struggle with a sense of self worth, know that He looks on you and says…"you’re beautiful in my eyes, simply wonderful my sweet child, and when you wish someone would look at you with only love and grace, I see you that way.” How can you not feel loved by the Heavenly Father? Though most of these songs were written solely by Gina, she does share songwriting credits on a few with Marty Funderburk, Sue C. Smith, Kelly Skidmore and Joe Johnston. Gina is a phenomenal talent in songwriting and in singing. She has passion and emotion and it comes through in her writing and her singing. Personal Favs: WHAT ABOUT HIS GRACE; IN ME; ALRIGHT; HE WILL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU; I SEE YOU THAT WAY; HE’S NOT A BURDEN Reader Comments

Gina Vera was the first person to get me REALLY into singing SG music. I even went to her home and she allowed me to use her sound tracks. I'll never forget what an impact she's had on me & singing.

I love Gina Vera! I have loved her music since I was a kid! I remember going to hear Gina Vera & Heritage in Bristol, VA at Dean Livingston's Church! They were incredible. Everytime she is in my area I make it a point to go because I know I will be blessed! Gina is an incredible talent.

The first time I had the privelage of meeting Gina Vera was about 12yrs ago when I was 17, at Foley Apostolic Church in Foley, AL.
I have been a fan ever since. I have most of her music on cassetes and wanting to replace them all with CDs, if I can find them. Gina Vera is such a talented singer and a wonderful, sincere, honest person. I wish her all the best and hope to meet her again someday.

About 9 years ago, I was working in my store by myself in NC one Sunday morning. I had the radio on while I worked and on comes a song that stoppped me in my tracks. I remember that the singer's name was Gina Vera & I believe the song was "Dying To Live" of something similar to this. Am I close in my memory of this song and if I am, does anyone know where I can find it? Thanks so much, Don
