As I write this article, my entire family is getting over some kind of bug. We have all had a stomach flu of some kind. I can honestly say I have never been more sick in my life. I even begged my wife to shoot me and put me out of my misery! But after a few days I begin to recover. THEN, my little boy, Zachary got sick. I can handle me being sick but it just broke my heart to see him in pain.
I have to share this......after I begin to feel well enough to get out of the house we decided to go out to dinner. Zachary had not been sick at all that day. We were sitting in the restaurant and that was when Zachary got sick for the first time. Isn?t that always the case? We left immediately and went home. He could not keep anything down for several hours. Now when I was sick a few days prior to that, I had been sick all night long. I did not get any sleep whatsoever. I just knew Zachary was going to be the same way. Zachary started getting sick about 8:30 that night. He laid on my chest in the recliner for about an hour before he got sick again. The nurse told us the only thing we could do was to try and get him to go to sleep. So the only way he would sleep was in my arms. He was so pitiful. He just laid there so still. The last time he got sick was about 11pm that night. I told Zachary we could pray to Jesus and ask him to make his stomach feel better. Well, we said a quiet little prayer and Zachary rubbed his little belly and said "Jesus." Well that blessed me. But let me tell you how God works. Zachary went to sleep at 11pm and slept all night long. He slept till around 8:30 the next morning. he woke up hungry and began eating right away. He ran all over the house like nothing had even happened during the night. To God be the glory! There is a lot in that one name......JESUS.
There is healing in that name....JESUS. There is deliverance in that name.....JESUS. But Best of all, there is SALVATION in that name....JESUS!
How many times have you been like Zachary and needed someone to hold you? Have you ever had one of those days where you just need to crawl upon our Savior?s lap and need Him to hold you? I promoted a song for the Jody Brown Indian Family called, "Hold Me Lord." Stephanie Brown, of the Jody Brown Family, wrote these lyrics: Hold me Lord when the storms of life are raging
Keep me in the hollow of your hand
Touch me Lord when the storm clouds roll into my life
Just hold me Lord and everything will be alright
These are such simple lyrics but very powerful. There have been many times when I have asked the Lord to hold me. The storm clouds have rolled into my life and I have had to ask the Lord to touch me. When you?re going through a storm, and the clouds are dark it is often hard to see what?s ahead. But if you just hold to the Master?s hand everything WILL be alright.
If you are facing a storm I would ask that you read Psalm 46. The first verse says "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." David speaks of God being our refuge two other times in that chapter. He will be our refuge if WE let him be.
In closing, I want to ask everyone to pray for the Mozingo family. Eddie Mozingo, of WAGO Radio (Goldsboro, NC) passed away Monday, January 27th. Pray that God will give grace during this time.
Until Next month,
Shane Ferrell
