The Stanleys - Face To Face
![]() Produced by Mike Pillow This is perhaps the finest project that the Stanleys have recorded. Ten of the twelve songs on this CD were written by group members, allowing the Stanleys to develop some of their own personality in their sound. With all four group members joining in the writing, it helps to keep a wide variety of sounds coming from this group. As you would expect with close family members singing together, the harmony is very good. One singer takes the melody most of the time and if they would distribute the melody lines a little more it would give more variance and innovation to their sound. “Four Men Walkin” penned by group member Carolyn Downing, opens the CD with a pace that continues throughout the CD. This is a nice toe-tappin' upbeat number. “Called and Chosen” written by group member Patricia Harvil, keeps that upbeat tempo going and keeps your interest with some different sounding chords in the track. They might consider this one for a future radio release. Face To Face”, the title song of the CD is a moving ballad, while “I'll Not Move” and “Remember The Blood” are both stirring slower songs that were authored by group member Rebekah Downing. My favorite song on the CD is one written by Rebekah Downing and other group member Kenneth Stanley, entitled “Saved, Sanctified”. This upbeat song should be one of their radio picks for sure. “He's My Lord” has an old bluesy/country feel to it. Other songs include “Train Up A Child”, “When We Get To Heaven”, and “You've Been Forgiven”, all written by Rebekah Downing. Reader Comments
This is an awesome group of people...called and anointed to do what they do. I would have been more generous with the stars, but hey; I am partial to The Stanleys...
I am blown away by the songwriting and vocal abilities...and if you have not had the experience "live and in person" you are truly missing a blessing. I love this project and these dear people and looking forward to more. This is the year guys...this is the year! Praise God!

The Stanleys are a wonderful bunch of people. One of my favourite memories of NQC is listening to Rebekah Downing sing "That's My Jesus" in their booth with JW Cooper playing guitar. She has an awesome voice you won't forget. This group is a bunch you have to hear, with a ministry that is authentic. With one song on the charts, you'll be hearing much more from the Stanleys...and you need to pick up a copy of this recording.
Of course...this is "just my opinion"!
